As a professional distributed systems engineer I agree. I internally lol whenever I hear someone talking about "Reading the whitepapers" because its not about reading them, its about understanding them and being able to the right questions. Some of these white papers promise things which very obviously can not be achieved (CAP theorem violations, etc). Thank god I didn't fall for the HODL meme. Me and my coworkers talk about how much of a joke crypto is at work all the time.

Thinking about it a bit more I think 75% is a bit much. But it has got to be over 50%. A blockchain is not difficult to understand, and someone could get a good understanding of it by watching a 5 minute youtube video.
