/smg/ official hedge fund:
https://autismincorporated.org/

Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access

wait until CA gets called in. they are NOT going to cover for zuck, as theyre trying to get out of this themselves. and they (CA) know that if they go down, google, amazon etc are next. this is why i think its most likely that zuck will be crucified in their place. Tips for new investors/traders

Follow Warren Buffets outlook on business but follow Ray Dalio for his way of trading business cycles and you will do great.

Reading the Intelligent investor gave me great insight of how to understand how a stock could be seperate from the corporation it is supposed to follow.

Reading Principles by Ray Dalio gave me a better understanding of how to live life and be capable of understanding of how you could either be wrong or right and to look at other peoples sentiment toward things such as market conditions and understanding their reasonings.

heres a great video by Ray Dalio explaining the economy, I usually break it down to individual companies (long term and short term debts)

Happy trading!

I think we've been blackmailed by the cartels going back to the 80's, which is why nothing is really done about it. That, and we have old fashioned fucks like Sessions fighting legalization.

>> No.8844796

This is called a straddle and what you want is plenty of volatility.
And because of how delta works in option, you will make a profit depending on the amplitude of the move in the underlying asset.

Not only is not a bad idea it's a common thing. You expect volatile movement and you prepare a straddle.

If it either goes up or down in a large swing you strike gold. If it doesn't you lose out on the premium - the little bit it did swing.

>> No.8844866

not if you do it with long contracts. its a tremendous play for things going into ER, as well as FED days on volatility. also leveraged etfs. anything that moves a lot in a day. get some short term contracts, and then flip em as soon as it takes off one way or another.

seriously look up straddles and strangles. you an skew em if youre biased too.

Senate committees is where scandals go to die - which is why Hillary let Bengazai go there, because she knew nothing would come of it.
Which is why I really don't invest much in anything here, it's a dog and pony show, and the only result will be the Senators using it to push for new laws that take more of our rights away.

I don't understand this whole fuss about the Russian interfering with the election. Surely making pro-xxx posts in a worldwide public forum is fair game? How is that interfering with the election?

I'm a Brit, so if I made a post about corrupt Hillary, or stupid Drumpf or whatever, and one of my FB friends who's American sees it, does that make me interfering with the US election?

>foreign money spent to influence the election is illegal
This is the point I don't get. So let's say I'm a Russian newspaper, publishing an English story about the US election and I'm biased towards a certain candidate. I'm paid obviously, so if a US citizen sees this article, this would it election interference?

What can FB do about it? Remember FB is a global service, not just for the US. Take down the article? But surely that's prohibiting free speech, especially since if a Russian, or European FB users sees it then there's no issue at all. So the only option is to segragate the content, so only non-US users can see it. But that's extremely difficult to do and very easy to bypass. For example, what if said US citizen is overseas while he saw this article? I just don't get how you can write into law about something like this.

And I agree with the dishonest agenda bit. But again, is it really FB's responsibility to police honesty? Remember honesty is not a legal requirement for these type of social contents. Am I committing a crime if I pretended to be a girl on FB?

Guys, isn't it really weird to be at the forefront waiting for history to be made?
Unless you have a stake in this (being a conspiracy planmaker, /biz/ness man or work for a tech company), nobody will give a shit truly.
Mark's giving throw away answers to a very wide range of questions, it all amounts to fluff filling that a regular news reader will discard like nothing.

Mark's not even under oath. He's under "legal obligation to answer truthfully", which was his forced call to say nothing too out of left field.
Facebook's a really scummy company, and BIGGER than CA.

I can believe why he's not getting more pressure here, and understand what's going on but to see this in action... I'm beyond disappointed as an american.
If CA is going to blast Facebook, CA better raise hell and a lot of it. It needs to be so damning, shocking and hell-to-earth spectacular not only in records, but in *presentation*.

It'll be the only way it gets picked up by normal news readers, watched instead of faded away.

Overall it's been a really interesting hearing with the Zuck. I think he did OK, which would go someway to explain the share price action. But the senators were a really incompetent bunch bar like a couple of them.

To keep it /biz/ related, I got thinking how this reflects a wider global mega-trend, which is the polarisation of the political spectrum, both in US and Europe. And how social media responds to this. I feel like this whole debacle has shown that building an integrated platform is extremely difficult, and I think the future of social media really lies in extremely partisan forums, where the userbase feels "safe" with fellow like-minded users. Unironically kind of like 4chan, with the vast majority of the userbase being right-leaning I would say. And whatever the lefty 4chan is as well. I would unironically long 4chan if I could.

Nah, rate hikes are more a reflection of growth and inflation. When the Fed wants to push people out of bonds they start buying back a shit load to drive up the price (and in doing so push down yields). They did this big time after 2008 to try push people back into the stock market.

straddles you buy a call and put on the same strike. strangles are my favorite (atleast on things that move fast). i normally buy as close to ATM as possible. you buy one slightly OTM call at a strike higher than the underlying, and one slightly OTM put thats below the current price. its even better if you manage to buy the contracts when they have low IV, as once it takes off in either direction, you get bonus gains from the vega.

For whatever reason the Trump administration has been, to date, pretty gun shy for a republican government. Lot of talk and a lot of show of force by positioning military near/in important countries but not much at all in the way of overt strikes. I continue to be impressed by the restraint shown with South Korea and Syria so far. And I say that as a political fence sitter who generally thinks all politicians are walking garbage.
