The reason to hold bitcoin is because the banking system fucks you via the government. Bitcoin and other secure cryptocurrencies (monero) are the way that you say "enough". They've stripped money from being something with simply understood rules to a blank check that means next to nothing. It's always done in the wake of a crisis, and it always starts as a temporary measure. Cryptos might crash and burn. But at least they represent a chance to get out of a system which has very obviously failed. Before they existed it was much harder to do so, the best bet being gold which has all kinds of problems with its storage, ease of transmission, divisibility, etc. when compared to bitcoin. It is for this reason I'm in and believe we are all going to make it.
