/smg/ official hedge fund:
https://autismincorporated.org/

Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access

g-guys, for the first time in my life there is a green number when I log into my brokerage account!

I have a gain. This is a big day for me, I've been investing since January and usually it's always red/an unrealized loss. I'm IN THE GREEN. I'm so happy I could cry.

Let this be hope to you all. We're all going to make it guys.

>Market-Wide circuit breakers
In effect since February 2013, market wide circuit breakers respond to single-day declines in the S&P 500 Index: if the index falls to 7% below its previous close, this is known as Level 1; Level 2 is a 13% drop; Level 3 a 20% drop. Level 1 or 2 will halt trading on all exchanges for 15 minutes, unless it occurs at or after 3:25 pm, in which case trading is allowed to continue. Level 3, whenever it occurs, will halt trading for the remainder of the trading day (9:30 am to 4:00 pm). Before these rules were in place, the DJIA was the benchmark, and the thresholds were 10% (Level 1), 20% (2) and 30% (3)

Options 101: buy puts if you think it's going down, calls if you think it's going up. Options have a strike price and an expiration date, they lose money as they approach the exp date and gain money as they cross the strike price, and gain as volatility increases

Example: yesterday LFIN is at $20. I think it's going down so I buy puts with a strike of $12.50 and expiration at the end of June. Let's say hypothetically that next Tuesday the SEC hold ends and LFIN drops to $0.05, I can exercise the puts by buying shares at $0.05 and selling them at $12.50, for a profit of $12.45 per share. Options are sold in contracts of 100 shares each so that's $1245 per contract. Now, instead of exercising I can resell the contract off to the next person. (On RH this is easier).

Volatility is a thing to keep an eye on. LFIN had a lot of volatility because everyone saw this coming, so the puts cost $4.40 in the first place ($440 per contract). So if it doesn't drop to at least $12.50-4.40=8.10, I'm losing money. But I'm pretty sure it's gonna be within sight of zero.

There's time decay too, the option expires in June so reselling it gets gradually less valuable as the date approaches

i agree, but that 8 years under obama was what inflated the bubble in the first place. combined with QE after QE to bribe money into the marketplace, while they simultaneously bailed out the banks with US citizens purchasing power and on the backs of their fucked up mortgages.

so really it was more the FED and obama had very little to do with it

The calls are options to buy the stock for a specific price, and the puts are the option to sell the stock for a price. They all have an expiration, the premium payed for the contract is calculated via it's Theta. Basically you can turn a $100 stock into a penny stock and gamble which ever way you want it to go.

If Obama was still in office, the MSM would be gushing in their pants about how the magic negro has made unemployment grow EVERY QUARTER. But no, because it's Trump, they ignore the fact that it's positive growth, and just focus on ITS A SMALLER NUMBER THAN LAST MONTH.
I was right about Trump, too - he doesn't have a fuck to give about the stock market, he's gonna take China down, and the market has to deal with it. Sucks for people holding, but in the end, it is better for the US, if he plays it right. I think I'm just gonna stick my head in the sand for a while and wait for it to play out, the market is a roller coaster and I'm not day trading, so why stress over something i can't change anyway. I'm not going to redo my portfolio over emotional reactions to MSM FUD.
I can onl;y hope Trump's aim is for this to be over soon, because this isn't what the GOP needs rolling into election season...unless he's got no fucks to give for them, either, and with how they've fucked him so many times, I wouldn't blame him.
Gonna be an interesting spring/summer, that's for sure.
