Originally, the OMG network was going to be released on the Cosmos POS chain and then transition to Plasma as it became available. Now, instead of the Cosmos chain just being an interim solution, they are going to release it as a permanent blockchain (competing network / decentralized exchange).

The new chain will have a native token (yet to be named) and the initial balances will be derived from current OMG token addresses 1:1. The network is compatible with Ethereum public addresses / private keys, so they will just credit the new tokens to your public address during the new networks genesis. They won't be ERC20 tokens on the public Ethereum chain so it won't just show up in your etherscan.io page. You'll actually need a wallet that is looking at the new chain in order to see your balance. Basically, you'll sign a transaction using your existing private key and publish it to the new chain just as you would publish a transaction to the public Ethereum chain. That will obviously require a wallet that is aware of the new Cosmos chain.

Originally, Omise was going to transition all of their existing customers over to the interim Cosmos chain so staking would be somewhat profitable right off the bat as a certain level of transactions would be guaranteed. I assume that this is no longer the case and Omise will wait for the Plasma chain to transition their existing customers. At this point we will have to see if the Cosmos chain can build enough user adoption to provide adequate liquidity to their decentralized exchange as they won't be starting with the advantage of the Omise customer base.

In the end, you will have your tokens for both chains and will be able to stake / validate both chains so wherever the majority of the transactions occur, you should still be able to benefit.
