Futures markets have been open for 15 minutes.
Here's how it's looking so far
S&P - down 0.68% and falling
Oil - down 0.54% and fluctuating
Gold - up 0.45% and climbing

Get your monday game plan ready, /biz/

I think your position is quite solid, friend.

Looks like the emini S&P traders are fighting around the 1955-1960 range until the Asian markets open.

I just bought a few Oct /GC 1220 calls. Gold is looking stronger and stronger.

The bears are clearly winning in this first hour of trading. S&P just plunged under 1955. Now down 1% and hovering precariously around 1951-1956 range as the trend lines are forming in a downward trajectory.

How will EURUSD react? Waiting for this fucker to turn around from that huge uptrend, for some reason I was staring right at it, but hesitated to get in. As a principle, I try not to get into a trend I'm unsure of.. then it turned out the fucker shot right up to 1.14 before even showing the least bit of resistance.

>>863709
Doesn't "Don't catch a falling knife" refer to buying in a downtrend, when you think it's going to turn around, before there's clear confirmation that it is indeed turning around? Cutting your losses is a better idea than waiting for it to maybe make that final run at the top. Your choice. I'd set a stop of some kind, though. Better safe than sorry, especially with the kind of high we're at. Personally, I'd think it'll probably shoot up a bit until 10-16 september, when we'll be looking at quite the dire situation for indices. It's not going to go much higher, but it could possibly make another attempt at the top.

Just taking a quick look at it with no prior study of it in the last weeks, I'd say that it could probably drop from 1956 (current level) to 1900, before it reaches new resistance levels.

Looks like it's hitting some resistance, anyway. Might consider shorting for the short term this if everything looks good, and it has pulled back, by tomorrow. But I think it was simply a matter of it breaking out downwards due to the long-term consolidation. I don't think it's "the fall". That probably requires more drastic events to precede. I'd say it can recover, but it's way too early to tell. Ask later in the week.

First of all, you can't trade VIX directly. You'll need to trade an ETF based on VIX or VIX options. The options market has no after hours trading and the ETF's will already be trading higher pre-market.

Now all that being said - I STILL think a short term play on volatility would be reasonable. Do your research first, man. Know what you're getting into. VIX shit is tricky as fuck.

Very high volatility, things can turn in a matter of minutes. If you don't know what you're doing it's a bad time to get into the market.

Not the guy, but from his screenshot he is using Quantopian.
A Python based Algo portal.

You can easily backtest from 2002 with minute data from hundreds of stocks etc.

Check:
https://www.quantopian.com/
I know some python and started watching the lecture this weekend:
https://www.quantopian.com/lectures

They have a lot of algos you can just clone and learn from. But you need to know python and invest some time.

most of my money is in the bank (I'm saving for a house). Is the value of my savings about to be eroded? Or are house prices about to crash?
