To elaborate a bit more, Doge is currently in it's post halving slump, and a recent fork issue pushed it down a bit more, all while BTC is tanking to depress the greater market.

Once BTC recovers it will bring DOGE along with it and spark up the prices again. We're already trading a daily volume that matches LTC, so I think going to $.01 is inevitable.

So yeah, my advice from now on is to run the wallet once a day, it'll take about 1-10mins to update. Always check that you have the latest version of the wallet. Backup your wallet data frequently, especially after an update. Some of us also do it after a major transaction. Save the backup in a few places.
