Someone's doing it to block the futures ETFs. SEC cited the permissiveness of the exchanges as grounds to deny. I'm assuming it's to prolong the bear market so they can accumulate until they're ready to cash out into the ETFs. Or it's ((them)) killing off crypto. Whatever.

Considering they believed that a 'currency' that takes days to process one transaction, with < .00001% adoption compared to fiat, would replace fiat I'd say yes.

You bought the peak of a bullrun and expected to get rich overnight. Bitcoin could go down to 2k and it would still have been a solid invest 12 months ago.

It's a solution looking for a problem, and it got pumped by a mania that was self-feeding, until it popped. Realistically, it's price should be under $1k (Yes, i know, coinfags, this upsets you), if and until it finds a real purpose other than speculative investment. The underlying tech is solid, there are uses for it, but you're thinking it's going to replace existing fiat, without understanding how impossible that is, on a short timeline. Something that big, that massive, that foundational, is gonna need decades of baby steps, on top of the ones it's taking, and already taken. On top of that, a cult-like groupthink places like this cesspool and other crypto believer circles has helped drive the mania, or prop it back up since January. It's all irrational, and they're trying to make the case that the boom to 19k was rational, and based on solid fundamentals. It's not. Not yet, anyway, and there's no guarantee it ever will. Crypto can go in many directions - towards replacing fiat, or tossed on the scrapheap are two distinct possibilities, but the true believers won't and refuse to acknowledge the latter - they feel that they're promised a fortune, and they're going to hang onto the dream until the bitter end.
The state of crypto right now? Margin trading and ICO scams and a wave of pajeet shitcoins, as all the scammers and get rich quick idiots flock to the alt coin candle like retarded moths.
2018 needs to see crypto breaking through into real commerce, or it will be the Tulip Mania of the modern age, and will die a slow, lingering death.
What happened to crypto? Greed, and scammers. Now it's just picking flesh off the carcass.

Even my own mum was talking about bitcoin (she kept getting spam emails from shady crypto scammers).
Even she knew "so you buy these internet coins with real money, but where are you supposed to spend them?"
