I'm thinking about getting into real estate.

I'm a 29 year old single Army vet, no kids. Just spent the last 8 years in IT and hated every second of it. The most rewarding part was face to face helping people and getting really good feedback about how good I was/how I was so different from the average neckbeard techie. The day to day same garbage of server admin and constantly being either completely bored or in some high stress fire had me close to driving off a bridge. Dealing with technical people with no troubleshooting ability or getting that 2AM call because something is down was garbage and no matter how much time I put in my salary stayed pretty crap tier.

I was going to go all in on software engineer because the dev pay and work/life balance is a lot worse than being an IT janitor, but the more I think about it the less I want to sit in front of a PC 24 hours a day staring at lines of code and dealing with tech people.

I'm an entrepreneur at heart. I hate working for other people and am extremely self motivated. Back in my early teens I made a ton of cash buying and re-selling virtual MMO goods on eBay and it didn't feel like work at all. When I was in my early 20s I continued that and in a good month made a few grand. Shortly after I deployed to Iraq and since then my life has been a shitfest.

Anyway I just moved from Philly down to Texas after quitting my IT job and ending a toxic relationship with a BPD whore and really want something new. I'm going to school with my GI bill and plan to focus on marketing/business since it is vital to running a business. I figure while I'm in school I'll work at restaurants and do other random shit to keep the bills paid (with my stipend), sell my overpriced car and get my real estate license. San Antonio/Austin area are growing exponentially and the average real estate agent is an old goon. My computer skills/research abilities/past with listing shit will have me getting that kind of stuff done in a quarter of the time it takes old Sally real estate and I am pretty charismatic / bright enough to hold down clients. Also helps having an uncle with rich connects around the city.

What say you /biz/? Anyone with experience in the industry? Am I off base thinking this could be an amazing gig while wrapping up school (night/online) and in spare time developing whatever biz shit comes from the gears turning with marketing classes/etc?

Not trying to make a ridiculous amount of cash, just want my own schedule and the potential to make more based on how hard I bust my ass.

A different approach to essentially the same thing.
