My new line manager took me into a room 3 times over the past 2 weeks to give me negative feedback.

Im now suffering anxiety for the first time.

Is there a chance the situation will improve or am I fucked?

Improve yourself, and start looking for a new job just in case

depends what the feedback is. maybe try improving? if you are unclear on how to improve ask for help on doing it, and your manager will love you

Don't go into rooms alone with your manager anymore.

Im just about to get a house in a cool area. I should be able to pay the mortgage as I will be able to get a job relatively easily.
Should I just go ahead with the house purchase?

Sounds like your manager just doesn't like you. In that case, no amount of improvement will make any difference. Just find a new job. Be sure to do some real spiteful, vindictive shit before you leave though.

how could I stay employed if I refuse to go into a room alone with my line manager? Isnt that like a normal prerequisite ?

Where in your job description does it say that you'll be required to go into a room alone with your manager? If that's seriously in your job description, show it to a lawyer and live out your days as a rich NEET, because that's rapey as fuck.

Ask for HR to be present.

I used to work in a corporate lab and that would probably mean your days are numbered. Try to improve or look elsewhere.

Now i work in a "mon n pop" lab with the senile 77 year old owner in there everyday trying to micromanage stupid shit. Anyways, he gets into moods and comes down like an asshole on you for no reason. I've learned to tell him off and not put up with his shit and he seems to not fuck with me anymore and i no longer fear for my employment

involving HR is always bad news for the victim, they just are there to stop the company getting sued and then they will find some fake reasons to make the problem go away :(

OP here I think Ill just tough it out

this

Was it written or verbal? If it's written, it means you're fucked. They are just creating a trail to fire you with no problems.
If it's verbal, he just wants you to improve. Stop fucking up.

What did he give you feedback on? Is it accurate?

1.Don't go to HR.
2.Ask him what can you do to improve, because you really like the job and want to get better at it.
3.At the same time look for another job. It may be something you can't fix and it's good to to have an exit strategy.
4.Don't be hard on yourself. Some managers are just assholes.
5. When you do quit do it professionally. Shit will follow you in this world if you are disrespectful to a manager, and it's not worth your time.
