Satoshi was for decentralized network faggot. He messed up the calculations and thought that if he increased the block size it'll still fit on everyone's computers. Then he realised that's not the case, and he needs to have the blockchain fit on people's computers otherwise it's not trustless at all anymore. He made a mistake saying that shit but he got it right to reject the patch early on that increased the size.
