There's an actual use case in the works (google up sat-1 initiative and sputnikVM) and staying in proof of work which means miners are probably going to switch to ETC when Ethereum becomes Proof of Stake. I see upsides with this but yes, don't expect moon missions anymore. It's clear the bubble has popped. Expect this to move like the stock market now - slow but steady rise.
