Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

what should i be watching to see when bonds will turn? obviously FED will kick these short bonds ETFS into overdrive, but do you know of anything that i could use to chart when exactly the rate hike will be? ive been using UUP to track the dollar and CPI (as an overlay, no one really trades it) to track inflation, but since these ETFs (TMV TBT) hold TIPS, they shouldnt be affected by inflation, no? sorry about all the questions, but i saw your idea on friday (short bonds, long vol) and decided to do some research.

junk bonds, would definitely be hit by both inflation AND rate hikes, both of which were getting this week, but i couldnt find a leveraged short ETF unfortunately. but i did find a regular old inverse ETF for them with SJB

Here's the thing if the yield increases to like 3.5% or 4% the sell off in equities to move into bonds will crash the market. When you've got these retirement accounts that are only looking for decent paying dividends and not so much on the growth side, that money will flow out of equities and into the bond market faster than the market can react. Then you end up in a chain sell off situation. Hence the long volatility UVXY and S&P short SPXS along with the Bear Bond meme.

Did you miss the Facebook news over the weekend?

Cambridge Analytica is a data science political advertising company. They're credited with giving Trump a huge advantage in the social media space, and for putting out a ton of pro-Brexit ads. It was run for a time by Bannon and financed by the people who support Breitbart.

Their platform relied on using user data from Facebook to generate psychological profiles of people to send them political ads targeted on an individual level. The public story until a few days ago was that Cambridge Analytica got their data through user submitted surveys.

We found out over the weekend that Cambridge Analytica, back in 2014/2015, actually used a loophole of sorts to pull data on friends and friends of friends of the people who filled out the surveys, all in all taking in 30-50 million user profiles without consent from the users.

It also turns out that Facebook knew about this in 2015, and demanded they delete the data. However, Facebook did this through a "click yes if you deleted the data" kind of mechanism, and didn't verify the data was gone or disclose to users their data had been illegally collected.

So now the whole shit fit is around Facebook's ability to secure data and how they deal with data breaches when they happen. Facebook's stock is falling and it's taking a number of other tech companies with it right now.

Yes privacy concerns have always been on the table, but normies dont seem to care that they are posting pics of themselves with identifiers anyway. The clickthrough rate is probably more like 1 in 10,000 of it being an actual human. How many of those actual humans turn and end up buying what they click? Probably only a few percent. All of that data may seem to be valuable at face value to the ad company but there is no market basis for the underling datapoint. Users on facebook arent really there to shop.

Contast this to buying an ad on google or amazon, the mindset of the user is a much higher value business datapoint. I think the market will figure this out eventually that facebook was really no more valuable than myspace at the end of the day.

Facebook is deperately trying to find viable long term revenue streams, but have so far made shit aquisitions at overpriced costs (lol occulus). Their best hope is to quitely drift into the shadows like AOL

I think the housing market got over valued because of the low interest rates allowed for a run up in the price since it was so cheap to borrow money. Those days are coming to an end soon, and when interest rates go up and it becomes difficult to borrow money, you may see a reflection in a lack of home buyers, which in turn could lead to a decrease in prices. I mean this is purely speculation, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if we see home prices come down in the coming years. Then again it all depends on the location and many other factors.

Respect the meme graph

If meme graph is right again, and why wouldn't it be, we may be close to the end of the cycle. Tons of other things point to that too. For some reason a big crash right now doesn't feel right to me though

short treasuries now. might go long treasuries wednesday. still going to short junk bonds though because they will get fucked (SJB) might even actually buy individual bonds if i see anything juicy. also hedging against inflation with commodities (DBC GNR) and also with land and real estate (SCHH LAND PCL).
