I own and operate a used video game and movie store. my key problems are my location sucks, the market is moving on to PS4/Xbox One/ Switch games, but people almost never bring me any of those to trade, and I just don't have the capitol to compete with the competition in my City.

Right now I'm just deciding if I want to get a line of credit to finance and revitalize my inventory with current gen games and pop culture merchandise, or just start winding down the business while I'm still able to pay all the bills. Do I keep fighting to keep the dream alive, or do I shut it down before It becomes an unsalvagable disaster? My expenses are around 11 grand a month average, and I make about 12-13 grand a month average. Enough to fritter along and pay all the bills, but with things fluctuating month to month it's not sustainable or going to allow me to grow the place.

IMO apart from some really culture-focused shops that industry is dying. I used to work in bike shops in college and that's the same thing. The only one that survived was the one that developed a really strong customer culture - like regular meetups and so forth, as talked about above, where you have a core customer group that keeps returning for the culture rather than cheap prices or range etc.

I.e. go for cool. But it's all a risk.

It sounds like you’re doing well financially pulling in that much money per month, desu. You need to do one of two things (preferably both but you don’t have much of a budget left over each month).

#1: Reduce your “nut”. Find a way to reduce the minimum amount of money you need to make per month to keep things going. Consider moving locations if you have a store front, and/or start moving to an online shop. The most successful game store in my area did 99% of their business online. This was for board games and stuff though.

#2: Find a way to target your audience and spend a few bucks a month on Facebook advertising. You can narrow down our advertising as much as you need. If you have demographics of your average customer this would come in handy. I’d assume males 18-40. You can get thousands of impressions for $5. It’s really the best bang for your buck.

Keep believing in yourself, anon. An average business doesn’t turn a profit for 3-5 years - it sounds like you’re doing alright. Especially for your industry.

Happy as fuck studying for my dream career for free thanks to G.I. bill. Put 10k in ETH 2016 and cashed at 11k. I'm a good looking dude and I have a 4.0 grade avg (though I'm only on second semester). I have a girlfriend who fully supports me and works and pays about half the time when we go out. Fat D tits on her (physique lacking a star but but I'm skinny fat anyways)
Thanks to this thread I'm running to the kickboxing studio down the road to take classes tomorrow and make my life even better.

if you want to make shit tons of money, you can do that a lot of ways, just know that you'll have to sell both your body and soul to do it. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs - my mum does PR for local companies and my dad owns his own syndicated radio show. They were well off, but decided not to share their money with me and I respect the hell out of them for that. I pay for my own college out of pocket.

My first business was a graphic design "agency" that I started at 14 to make youtube backgrounds(they were backgrounds at the time, not banners) for $5 each. That turned into a YouTube network which, at it's height, had partnered a total of 3500 channels. When those were abruptly banned in 2016, I started working at a local grocery store to supplement my income before I got started in ecommerce. I ran a website with three other guys that sold esports jerseys - Called JerseyLegion

We were bought out by a much bigger site called ArmaCentrum in mid 2017. The domain's expired now, but it's on the wayback machine:
web.archive.org/web/20161009010259/http://jerseylegion.com:80/

After that, I used my part of the sales to buy my first investment property. I'd never had any kind of debt before(I bought my first car for $500 and at this point I still had it) so my parents cosinged with me. This was also the time I started dating my current girlfriend, and I had just turned 18.

Now, I do social media management for local businesses, mainly restaurants - I got my first several clients by coldcalling everyone on my dad's advertiser list and using his name as a foot-in-the-door. I also do ecommerce, but I'd rather not say which products I'm selling for obvious reasons.

I have a serious problem with fake people though. Because I'm always working, people understand that I'm making a lot more than people my age and therefore I get a LOT of attention purely because people want to use me for my money. If I'm being honest the girl I've been dating since I was a junior in high school is a 6 at best, but was one of the only people that paid me any attention before, well, I started making it. DO IT.

I am literally on track to replace my salary with rental income within about 7 years, bought first property in 2003 or so, will have 5 or 6 total when I'm done, single family homes and a condo.

Live in Venezuela
23years old
Owner of a audiovisual production company
Anual income, depends around $40k a year
Have 20k in savings

It’s hard to make it here but it’s cheaper than living in Europe or US. I been there and a monthly budget is over a thousand while here is, if you like good life, $400 monthly.

Bad thing is electricity problems, water shortage and lack of food in supermarkets. There are supermarket with imported products with unregulated prices so you can find food easily there but expensive compared to normal prices. Basically socialist gov. control prices which makes it harder for companies to generate profit.

But in my case I have a water tank so I can shower anytime. What’s been killing me is electricity which government cuts a couple of times a week or it goes on and off damaging electrical objects. Luckily didn’t damage anything so far.

Happy? Well, sometimes. I am thinking in moving out life here always gets worst even if you have money.

Dont enforce unjust, just because a bunch of cock sucking bureaucrats passed a law to impose upon others, doesnt mean they are criminals. If you arent harming others your not commiting crime. Amything else is overstepping by the government and if you impose upon others under the guise of justice youre nothing but a delusional muppet.

>Software Engineering Intern >$120k/yr prorated, though my internship only lasts for about 6 months so it'll really only end up being like $60k

I feel relatively satisfied as I understand that it isn't easy to have achieved what I've done and that most of my peers are nowhere close to where I currently am. Working at my internship is making it pretty difficult to keep up with my classes though, and that's definitely been causing a lot of stress. I honestly probably should have just taken a semester off instead of trying to be hot shit and thinking I could juggle classes plus an internship at the same time.

million doesn't mean much if you have super thin margins competing against alibabaCucks. always look into P/L details for those companies. You can literally lose your shirt with a million in rev. but good luck, i guess.

Bail. In 5 years I don't think games will be sold in disc form anymore now that you still have to DL the bulk of the game onto a HD.
