What's to stop the media from running a bunch of "Nazis got rich off bitcoin so we have to regulate crypto" stories and have the government ban all everything and replace it with FedCoin?
Stories like these:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jan/24/bitcoin-currency-far-right-neo-nazis-cryptocurrencies
http://www.businessinsider.com/neo-nazis-and-right-wing-extremists-profit-from-the-bitcoin-hype-2018-1

But what if the entire media/news/politicians got in on it?

Projects like Cardano and XLM
aim to do a lot of good in Africa, etc. You just to have to counter the FUD by publicizing the good too.

Then whichever crypto they can't effectively ban ends up going up 10000x

The sooner they try the sooner they will fail.

It's though, they can easily create a stigma by associating BTC or mainly XMR to specific use cases, but of course the rebuttal would be that anything that people used these currencies to buy or finance could also have been purchased or financed using fiat money.

A lot of country might switch to their own cryptocurrency at some point in the future, and that would be the biggest risk, since they would have a lot of chances to ban other cryptos whenever that happens. I think that's the biggest risk at the moment. People are quick to forget that before BTC, most people who tried to start similar projects ended up in jail. It's not for nothing that BTC's creator wished to remain anonymous.

I know my audience, but outside of 4chan, this would be seen as a very positive thing.

No, they can't, since they tried already and failed.

will never happen because it would require personal restrictions that nobody would stand for

Just get ahead of them and go all-in on XRP. It's obvious that's the one the government/banks/corporations are going to support. After it's been run up to $50 Trillion market cap, then move your wealth into privacy coins. Don't be a retarded white man who complains. See the long-term plan and get in front of it.

Because the nazis here and elsewhere will rarely use their new fortunes politically. We'll have the edgy opinions and still do nothing, just like today.
