Are owning franchises a good investment/way to make money? I know that if I opened up a Taco Bell in my area it'd make a fortune.

For the corporation, not for yourself. Often those places make anywhere from 50k to 150k depending on area and how busy after everything is paid.

Yeah they seem to be but I live in an area that has experienced steady growth and development for the past 50 years or so not sure what it is like in other parts of the country that don't have the federal government pumping out funbux into the local kitty

Which is almost impossible unless you own a bunch and can cut costs by wholesale pricing. Reality is if a subway is being sold for 85k it is bleeding money and nothing anything can do to change that.

Seems like owner is retiring. Part of the package is two weeks training with Subway. Don't have the cash available anyway at the moment. Just wondered if something like this is worth keeping an eye on.

Starbucks does franchising, right? I'm seriously considering looking into what it would take to set one up. We have like 7 stores within a 3 block radius in my town and they're always booming, but there's one road from the outer rich people 'burbs that's completely empty of coffee chains. I'm talking bumper to bumper traffic between 6-8am and 4-6pm. I bet I could make a killing setting one up.
