It's honestly sad that he's such a huge pariah in the media and among most people, who are quick to join in on the public flogging. It's very disillusioning. It lacks a moral conscience, It's an animalistic outpouring of hatred toward individual success. People love to see someone who has demonstrated their objective superiority become violently subdued by the state out of a fear for their own self-preservation. When in reality this is a political railroading which is terrifying in this day and age for anyone who is paying attention. I know who Martin Shrkeli is, yeah that skinny little bitch gouged the drug prices I hope he gets raped in prison!!! Who's Jon Corzine? Tosh.0 said Martin Shkreli was a jerk. this. the motherfucker was working with cramer at 19, started a hedge fund at 23, and already had $100 mil at 30 years old. self taught in both the field of finance and organic chemistry.

shkreli had 100+ hours of youtube finance lessons that he put on the internet for free. he streamed countless hours on blab, youtube, and discord talking to random ppl on the internet for over 3 years. the content he provided is pretty unbelievable. it's amazing how people can't do two second of research on what Turing pharmaceuticals does as a company. all he did was buy the distribution rights to daraprim, and raise price for R&D. Nobody pays out of pocket for that drugs, the taxpayer foots the bill because of obamacare. hate the player not the game. pfizer does exactly what shkreli does on a 1000x scale.

He will be going to federal prison, which is like a vacation compared to state prisons. However, he will serve everyday of his sentence. He will be on a work farm most likely, doing unskilled labor

You people are retarded.

He didn't go to prison for multiplying the price of a drug. He went to prison for security fraud. They're still plenty of monopoly pharmaceutical companies jacking up the price of medicines.

How old is he now? 25 or something? Not that bad desu if he gets out in his early 30’s. I’ve been living in the midwest for as long, may as well have been in prison this whole time.

About 3 years total, plus he'll probably be eligible for parole pretty quick on account of being a white collar naughty boy. Also he will absolutely be appealing the sentence if not the conviction which could bump it down even lower.

oh... no parole on federal charges? That's weird. Nevermind the parole bit then.

Okay, looked up the way this works. Federal convicts are not eligible for parole if charged after 1987 however they can be granted early 'supervised release' by a judge which essentially amounts to the same thing.

I imagine Shkreli will serve about a year and a half in prison.

But realistically, this. Federal prison doesn't have parole, but you can get early release after 85% of your sentence. The most he'll serve is 6 years. But with an appeal/commutation, probably 2-3.

In my country, if you punch someone and they hit their head and die, you'd probably get 7 years or less.

Imagine your entire teenage years and then some just never existed. Imagine you went from elementary school, blinked and then finished college. Imagine you meet a girl you like, blink and you are married with a two kids and a mortgage. Imagine starting a career as a junior, blink and you are a manager. Imagine having a nokia, blink and suddenly there's iPhones, facebook, snapchat, 3D printers and an elongated muskrat literally sent a fucking self-driving convertable into space.

7 years is a huge stretch of time and in my assessment, it is not commensurate with the crime. While it's satisfying to see American courts hand ridiculous sentences to murderers and rapists (like 180 years), this is clearly indicative of a judge sentencing based purely on emotion and public outcry, not on the aggravating and mitigating factors of the crime.

I never liked him, I think he did cop bullshit that was not measured against the bigger picture (there's a trillion more things truly wrong with the world), but I do feel bad for him.

7 years in prison is insane. That would break so many people. That's really long. Even though the guy was a smug bastard, I will say a prayer for him. I've been to jail a few times and once I was alone and in for 1 week, it was hell.
