First off, congrats on anyone who invested in it in 2017, you made mad gains and I'm not hating on that at all. Second, I think Brad is a good speaker and Ripple in general is professional.

However, XRP is blockhcain version 1.0. It is nothing more than a glorified Excel spreadsheet. It literally isnt even a crypto-currency. XRP the token is not even used either. Most of the supply is owned by the team and market cap is already way out of hand when it comes to a token not even used.

When oracles and smart contracts fully develop, there will be no need for XRP, since all it is is a middleman place holder for cross bank payments. When oracles and smart contracts really get going, they will clear payments real time directly, without the need for a middleman. They are essentially a placeholder right now before the real blockchain/smart contract/ and oracle tech is realized and implemented. Ripple was 1-2 years left of relevance, unless they completely redo everything about their business model, which they are too late on.

Don't be dump biz.

Thanks for spreading a word about cRipple...its against everything we are trying to achieve with blockchain, read about it. Its controlled by 3 guys, they are freezing people coins, etc...just boycott it.

It's not just controlled but the business model will be made obsolete. Why would banks need a place holder when they can do it directly?

smart contracts area already being used. tether uses smart contracts on the OMNI layer protocol to secure the USDT/USD backing, if i remember correctly.

>it’s not used, it’s owned by the team, they have millions and billions at stake but they don’t want the coin to succeed, this coin is not even a coin lolz

>my link bags are killing me, please stop buying XRP! I know enough to say how many years something will be relevant when experts can’t predict markets here or elsewhere.

You are a brutally gay faggot. Your post reads like the bewildered and desperate musings of a 20 year old who is short on the rent.

Better get another job, you slobbering shit stain, and let the adults invest in the new asset class. The greatest innovation of this generation. XRP is a front runner, sort out your fucking life.

Stay poor.

> It literally isnt even a crypto-currency.
Wrong. Proof of work consensus is not what makes a crypto a crypto.
DLT + crytography to secure balances is what makes a crypto a crypto.

OP is a flaming retard, but coincidently he is correct that XRP is a shitcoin.

[Performance]
-Ripple consistently handles 1,500 transactions per second, 24x7.
-Payment channels can process 10s of 1000s of transactions per second.

.
[Cost]
-A standard transaction costs just 0.00001 XRP.
-The cost is not paid to any party: it's irrevocably destroyed.

.
[Real-world use]
-5 institutions are currently using XRP (MoneyGram, Cuallix, FlashFX, IDT and MercuryFX).
-Many banks are currently using xCurrent. Since xRapid is cheaper (saves up to 60%) and provides final settlement, they are likely to transition to it.
-Bichip will use XRP in its RFID chips.
-A w3c standard that Ripple helped develop (and was demo'd by Microsoft) will be available in all major browsers, it'll facilitate paying with XRP.

.
[Economics]
-The supply is fixed.
-Unlike Bitcoin, there's no inflation. Bitcoin uses PoW which relies on inflation and/or high fees. Bitcoin requires $18M of net new $ flowing in just to maintain the price!!

.
[Security]
-Unlike Bitcoin, double-spending isn't possible. Bitmain (a Chinese company) can rollback Bitcoin's chain and bankrupt the whole ecosystem.
-An attack could only stop new transactions temporarily. Participants would simply remove bad participants from their list

.
[Decentralization]
-Each participant can run a validator and use his own list of validators.
-validators role is to agree on an order for new transactions
-10s of reputable public & private entities around the world are currently running validators (e.g., Microsoft, MIT, CGI, WorldLink, Bahnhof,..)
-Consensus for the order of new transactions requires a supermajority of 80%

.
[Incentives]
-XRP is a revenue source for Ripple Labs. This aligns its incentives with XRP hodlers. It uses the revenue to improve the tech and expand XRP's market share.
-Ripple Labs share is locked in 55 batches on the network. Only one batch can be unlocked per month. It would take them 5 years to unlock them all. XRP is sold only to long term investors (i.e., they can't dump).
