skycoin is more towards a libertarian vision, it has a vision similar to early bitcoin as it aims eventually to create an ecosystem in which you have a decentralized internet, the more the worlds shifts towards a more authoritarian view, you will have people flocking to a place that will provide some form of freedom
If you do want to make a parallel how about this, the sky team already has done a lot which you can check on github, they are mostly the same devs unlike eos, where the main man hopped from a project to another
