Ok /biz/, so I ran into this sketchy shop on a board walk where EVERYTHING is $1. They have merchandise I'm there that is obviously worth more than a dollar. Is it worth it to buy a bunch of stuff from there and sell it on eBay? It's very tempting but I'm not sure what to buy.

Pic relates, will post more

An honest advice: good deals don't jump up on you, you have to input a lot of effort and research to be the first one. All of the stuff is worth less than $1. For any of that item, there are ways to order huge amount for fractions of this from some noname uncle Lao from his chinese basement factory.

Shipping container theft is a thing. That's probably where all this shit comes from and why everything is 1 dollar. They're just unloading whatever the fuck they got from the stolen containers using a random shop that cops won't give a fuck about. Then pretending on their taxes that it's a legit business.

No, the dollar is going to continue to do well against the Euro as long as they continue to throw away money on Greece. The Euro is already headed for another painful drop because of it.

Right there, right fuckin there. Look to the left of that image at the smooth shampoo. It has the letters DG in caps and yellow to the top of the lablel. DG is Dollar General. Its like Family Dollar and Dollar Tree. The ones I seen had shit that was $0.50 and up, most being the the 20-30 dollar range.

So arbitrage is difference between the cost of the product and what you sell it for. The joke is that there is no arbitrage because the shit isn't really worth a dollar. :/

No. I worked in various factories in the past ( a candy factory.. in a factory that produced soap products etc)

What happens is that sometimes companies have overproduction, canceled orders, items with the wrong barcode/labels etc.

Rather than throwing it away they sell it at rock bottom prices to those kind of stores.

At said candy factory we had a left over of 10 ton (tenthousand) kilo of candy per month..

Dollar stores have been a thing since the end of time, they make money because obviously when they buy shit in bulk with a long expiration date, it's literally just free money for them.

Where? All I see in those pics is junk that is fairly priced at $1 a piece.

Well, selling cheap shit in bulk is of course doable, but the key is arbitrage. You do not want to store stuff. You sell it first, then you buy it.

Also, you get raped on fees when it comes to low margin stuff on Ebay.
