Waves is actually a good platform but it was plagued in the past by scams, atleast Ethereum had stuff like OmiseGO and Ethos, Populous and many other legit ICOs.

Waves has either low quality ICOs not worth investing or scams, they build tokenomica, a legal platform, to combat this which is centralised on top of their decentralised platform but the ICO market is getting crowded every platform that basically can hold ICOs does so. I still hold Waves myself because I can't be bothered selling it. But Universa actually signs a lot of contracts with companies to get their blockchain implemented in various sectors whereas Waves just keeps boasting about how they are the fastest and cheapest, meanwhile this has become a standard and they wasted the opportunity approaching businesses to actually get used without launching shitcoins.

Also SkyCoin seems to be the only innovator in the ICO space where they provide SkyLedger so that every ICO has its independent ledger/blockchain. Which is surely a huge competitive advantage, the ICOs on SkyLedger are also top notch but often very high cap because these projects want to implement a lot of physical infrastructure such as SunCoin which does P2P energy transactions, but to do so they want to build their entire own physical infrastructure, I'm pretty sure they will pull it off as they are backed by a lot of private investors and can get that infrastructure out but still its a longterm play which is not something everyone is interested in.

Why is Universa better than this?

Its not necessarily better, but Universa already has contracts for implimentation ( a lot), Waves does not. I don't think Waves will really be able to compete in the future.

So atleast with Universa you know its going to get used, probably a lot of private companies will use it for private tokens used for internal transactions to make internal processes cheaper aswell, all that will use UTN.

Waves is still just a platform for shitcoins.
