So whats so good about this coin?

I have a whale friend (1000+BTC) who tells me this is his favourite coin (alongside Monero).

Can someoen shill me/redpill me on it?

I’ve been curious too, it seems rarely mentioned here.

seems ok. as far as PoS coins go I prefer something with a lower marketcap like LUX but decred is probably a safer bet

looks shit imo, overpriced

it has many good features but I don't see any reason it will blow up like some other coins might.

Yeah but it might be good to pick up for later once it comes down

Its Bitcoin but with governance and a hybrid model. ASIC are coming for Decred. The developer said they made it non-ASIC resistant on purpose so they can have the ASIC miners on their network instead of botnets like monero has. The developer said that its better to be more centralized this way than have botnets having the centralization.
MAKES ME THINK.

Miners can’t do anything funny in decred because pos stakers keep them in check. At the same time ASICs secure the network against botnets/gpu farms which can attack a coin without being hurt financially.

>Be miner that takes over almost the whole mining part of the network
>Use buttload of mined coins for staking and take over that too
That wasen't hard

When coins are staked they’re locked for a random period of time. Attacking the network this way would make both coins and ASICs of the attacker worthless.

Interest will presumably shift to governance as people come to better understand the implications. BTC, XMR, DCR, LTC, STRAT are the juggernaut big dicks that will keep getting bigger.

Stakeholder-activated hardforks. Resistant to malicious forks. DAO coming this year. Privacy coming soon. Devs are creators of btcd.
Imagine Monero, more secure, with staking returns, full privacy and anonymous voting.
Perfect coin to stash massive amounts of money in and protect your investment.

Plus they created the atomic swap tools, also have blockchain-anchored timestamps (seems similar Factom but without the rent-seeking token). Also SPV nearly done (they did some cool shit which makes it very secure, hasn't been done before afaik) and port of LN nearly done as well. Decred is my favorite coin by far. The devs are amazing and they're always innovating. It doesn't get enough credit. Looking forward to seeing the roadmap which should be out very soon.
