I'm thinking of getting into the laundromat business. But is it a viable business? I mean is it more or less risky than a restaurant?

Would it be better to buy an already existing laundromat or try open my own, buying the space and the equipment?

It's pretty profitable if you're in a poor area with lots of apartment complexes. My dad owns one and has only one guy there managing it everyday. It's insanely better than trying to start a restaurant, yes. Starting from the ground up would require a decent sized loan -- buying an existing one would probably be cheaper overall, and you may just be able to keep the same staff running the place.

It's really profitable if criminals use your laundromat to "clean" their money
