The mainframe, blockchain can be comparable to basically the roads of the 21st century (whatever their different characteristics are). If you don't now why, just check out the impact of transportation in our economies. Blockchain is the first major step for full automation, among other things

The value we use the roads for (mobility, transportation, accessibility, etc) and how we use them (cars, trains, trucks, whatever) are basically smart contracts. The smart contract was the 2nd major technological step of blockchain and its biggest added value. The road stops being used as a way for sheeps to walk around the fields to eat grass on meadows and we start to have productivity from the road itself.

But without oil roads are irrelevant and cars are nice looking redundant vehicles. Its the massification that allowed for the diversity of economical benefits created by the roads/cars. And that's where chainlink enters.

Blockchain and smart contracts are great attributes but they hold very little value if they exist in a closed circle. Its what exists outside the network that will allow for its usage to be a major technological and economical step. That's where chainlink enters. Chainlink basically connects the outside to the blockchain. It gives value to the smart contract which allows it to use the blockchain. Just like oil promoted the usage of cars/other ways of transportation that utilized the roads itself.

How rich are people/countries who controlled oil? Very very rich.

I think I agree with AB when he said that owning ChainLink is like owning rights to the network.

I think it will work like this. API providers will monetise their data though chainlink nodes, and other people will get the data that executes smart contracts with chainlink nodes. Thus nodes are rewarded or penalised in LINK tokens.... That's great. But they won't be making money by getting more LINK tokens on their node and selling them on fucking Binance. It's the smart contracts themselves and the whole system that will create value. Chainlink is just the infrastructure. The token just gives you a node and you want your node to have higher priority. It's not the tokens that are important --- it's the whole new economy that will emerge from the ChainLINK infrastructure. And ironically that is what will make the token so valuable - the fact that keeping it locked up in a node, and building up more link through time, will increase your node priority will make it more profitable to HOLD chainlink and make money through your smart contracts than it would be for hosting a node and then selling the tokens on for "passive income".

Do other Anons agree?

If it's more profitable for a business to hold LINK in nodes than it is to sell them, why would they sell them?

Only retail investors would sell them, I suppose. Or individual node operators. Nodes from big corporations won't function purely to generate LINK. They will be part of a network that simply underlies an industry that makes its own money.

link's value isn't tied to ether or cryptos' value. Once the network starts, contracts will be written that use the network that deal in USD and other currencies (primarily at first perhaps years down the line cryptos will be a bigger deal). Links value will then based on a percentage of what node operators receive based on smart contracts that use the network (a percentage of the USD value of the contract). The price of ether will be irrelevant and in the not so distant future alts will be traded against the USD; don't tell anyone I told you this but link will be getting its own fiat ramp as a natural extension of mainstream adoption that sergey is working on.

This also ignores the blockchain agnostic feature which means LINK is even less tied to the success or failure (also, price) of the ethereum platform.

That said approaching bitcoins price is out of the question. Just think about how much each node would have to be worth and since we're depending on a large amount of tokens to be out of circulation there is a natural cap on the price.

My gut says yes but if it really is that important of a system transferring that much money... Then that node operator would expect a return of a few percent, say 3% a year which would be 300k. 300k x 500 nodes = 150 million dollars in total value going across the network. It begins to feel rather small don't you maybe we're being too conservative? Since market cap is a complete meme and a worthless metric, yes, it IS possible for LINK to hit $10000. In 10 years.

>> No.7884641

Someone really needs to clear up LINK. Here I go. This one's for the newfags.
1. There is no shadowfork
2. Jason Parser is a meme
3. Sergey is alive and is one of the headline speakers at the upcoming Bitcoin superconference
4. The testnet is scheduled to release this quarter. The lack of the testnet keeps price down for now, not memes or whales
5. Noone knows when mainnet will launch, noone knows how much link will be rewarded for staking in nodes, noone knows how much priority will be given per link in a node
6. Link is used to force fair and automatic execution of agreements. This doesn't happen with current tech because centralization means someone always has control. With link noone can influence these agreements
7. Link currently has one competitor right now. I don't remember their name. They have a larger but less credible team.
8. Link is an erc20 token that is used with smart contracts. Many block chains offer smart contract tech, link will work with most/all of them.
9. The team stated they could move link to its own blockchain independent of ethereum if need be
10. People do unironically go all in and support this coin, most of the fud is to keep newfags out
11. Sergey isn't getting that fat
12. The team does not post on social media but is very active on slack, email, and their websites message box
13. Anyone can join the slack, just ask for an invite on smartcontract.com
14. They have been looking to hire a PR person and more developers for a while. As far as we know they haven't made any hires yet.
15. So far they have met all deadlines, showed up to all scheduled events, and so on.
There you have it, the objective truth about link. Take it as you will.

there will always be some LINK circulating, because people need to pay for data in LINK. it could be as little as 100 LINKs, with people trading around 0.0000001 LINK or something, and 1 LINK being worth $100,000. :^)

I believe we're definitely thinking too small..one of the major sectors Sergey discussed was the bonds/derivatives market which alone is estimated around 1 quadrillion. Long term I see this surpassing BTC's ATH bc assuredly BTC, ETH, and others will also rise astronomically pending the inevitable increase in market cap due to mainstream adoption made possible by LINK (hell even the SEC is bullish and thinks it could reach trillions by 2020, founder of WEF specifically references SmartContract as a Kek component of the 4th Industrial Revolution). $1000 eoy is a meme for a reason- it is entirely possible. All the "logic" thrown around during price prediction FUDing is absolutely baseless considering useless projects in this space have mooned themselves into the top 10.

>but muh marketing

Once the marketing begins to ramp up (it's already started bc Sergey directly shilled LINK, LINKs official twitter, etc...), the Singularity will instantly arrive behind the backs of all nonBelievers and Blast its infinitely long green candle up their collective Asses.

>> No.7887039

Nobody knows the time of the price singularity.
But when it happens, everyone will know.
All across the world, voices will echo "..what's wrong? Is everything ok?"
A few vehicular accidents will occur seemingly for no reason.
Several pilots, delivery drivers, and one pajeet who forgot to close a submarine hatch will all last be seen yelling at their phones.
Binance will crash. Everyone scrambling to buy LINKs will see 404.
Etherdelta will become so overwhelmed with traffic it will slow to a halt. It will become unusable.
The only orders that will happen will be buy orders that have already been placed.
LINK will reach unimaginably high prices within minutes.
Every noLINKer's eyes will watch. The tiny LINK cube on coinmarketcap will be reflected in their eyes.
However, the ones who knew...the ones who had heard, but didn't listen...
their cubes will be distorted by tears.
As these tears fall onto rapidly moving fingers that are refreshing binance or etherdelta multiple times,
Haunting music rings in their ears infinitely.
The harrowing noise of the bells causes the noLINKer's soul to shiver...and scream.
Biz will be filled with LINK memes. All threads will be titled "You had your chance."
Monitors will be smashed. Laptops broken in half. Weddings, family reunions, graduation ceremonies, and other social events across the world will be plagued by the audible cries of noLINKers who knew the path but didn't take it.
Their hopelessness crushes them inside, but they keep having to wageslave, and forcing a smile on their face every day to avoid ever being asked "what's wrong?" again will eat away at their sanity.
This soon becomes a worldwide phenomenon, and noLINKer syndrome will be added to DSM-V and heavily studied.
Most normies will continue enjoying their playpens.
But the ones who knew...
they will become uncomfortably intimate with despair....
For they know they missed the opportunity of a lifetime, and another precious path to freedom has disappeared forever.
