>Refuse to match pay and act like im a piece of shit for not taking a 20% loss for the honor of working with them

What the fuck is wrong with work culture? Step the fuck up and be competitive, if the persons employer is willing to throw out such a large increase they are clearly worth fighting for.

Maybe the other firm was more prestigious and had better clients? Maybe you just fucked over your chance of a massively higher bonus and comission for a mesely 20% base pay bump?
