Sergey says node operators will be paid in LINK as per the whitepape - "right now that's the plan"

While this is obviously a good thing surely it doesn't really matter even if they added the option to be paid in another currency?

Getting compensated for operating a node in LINK is the equivalent of reinvesting dividends with shares. You get paid in LINK, your node has better reputation, it gets used more, your node is more profitable

Sure you could get paid in ETH or whatever instead but to my mind most people who are motivated to operate a LINK node in the first place are going to want to be paid in LINK anyway

Am I missing something?

Node operators get paid in LINK for providing proper data.

I don't think this precludes node operators from getting rewarded in other currencies via other smart contracts, the execution of which also requires LINK.

Yeh except sergey states explicitly that node operators will be paid in link
