another one that has worked well for me is just made up entrepreneurial experience where I said I was running my own small business for a couple years (I use construction-related stuff like roofing, framing, drywalling, painting, etc.), it's not entirely made up, I have done a bit of that on my own here and there, but I embellish it.

They usually ask why I'm not working for myself still and I'll just say something like "I needed the consistency of fulltime employment at this point in my life, working for myself posses a degree of uncertainty" and they lap it up, have been offered jobs consistently in my last 10+ interviews but I turned most down
