I have $ 40.000 to invest in crypto. Thinking of putting around 40% in more “strong” coins ( ETH, BTC, maybe NEO ). And the rest I would put among several other cryptos. The ones I´m more confident I would put around 5-8% , and the ones that are more risky between 1-3%. In the end my portfolio would have around 15 to 20 different coins. Is this considered over diversification ? And is that a bad idea ? I just don´t feel comfortable putting all in like 2-3 coins.

No more than 10 coins for 90% of your portfolio. 50% in bluechips, but weight more heavily to eth than btc.

Shitcoin is the only thing that gives a decent ROI in this enviremont.

Research your shitcoins though...see what is getting shilled here and avoid 99% of it.

na thats fine dude. just keep it under 30. I can easily keep track of 25-30 different coins. Honestly some coins I put 50 bucks in an forget about on cryptopia. there have been shitcoins like rubycoins, gamecredits, and EMC2 where if you put in 10 bucks in 2014 you would have 4 million.

Make sure you invest some into ETC. Airdrop on 5th of March. Expect it will outpace most over the next 3 weeks.

wouldn't invest in more than six to eight coins at a time, including the blue chips. you will be fine as long as you don't invest in shitcoins on shit exchanges

I don't think diversity in crypto is bad investing, OP, but you might want to do some heavy research. Plenty of bitcoin clones exist, and even more scams exist that those... Best to find coins with use cases, like Audiocoin and SingularDTV or coins that solve problems like rarity and transaction times, (ex. Unobtanium or Mooncoin)
Avoid any coin shilled on /biz/ that has more than 1 thread a day as rule of thumb and don't fall for catchphrases like "It solves the Oracle Problem" or "Backed by X company".
>t. only been in crypto since 2014
Good luck to you

takes A LOT of patience though.also holding through 30-50% drops, which usually are made up in the next bullmarket when it increases by 500-1000%. being strong here is the key.
