...or does nobody really care? I'm hoping I get into Brown or Princeton.

in modern society degrees dont mean shit anymore, its just about workexperience. which completes the paradox

The degree itself doesn't mean shit (provided it's not a meme subject).

Where you went/networking does.

I went to one of these schools, and yes, it is a major advantage. People automatically assume I am smart and worth knowing.

That said, if you go to a really good (as opposed to super elite) school, you can still do equally well, you just have to try slightly harder.

How often does where you went to college naturally come up?

Is Penn A & S still prestigious? Seems like most A & S grads have normal ass jobs

job interviews and dating apps

things is....getting jobs and a mate are pretty important, so it's actually been a big advantage there

Yes, but in that case you NEED to leverage the alumni contacts to get prestigious internships too, so that your resume really pops for people. UPenn and Penn State are unfairly confused by most plebs.

Seems like all the rich boarding-prep-international kids at these schools only hang with each other - is that accurate? Do the rest of the middle class kids lucky to be admitted sorta feel like peasants?

Serious question: I am a brainlet with a 2.9 GPA (Software Engineering, 3rd year).

Is there anyway for someone like to ever be accepted into an elite college?

Let's imagine that I wanted to get a masters in business or economics from a Ivy League school. For someone with a shit GPA from public university, is there any chance of getting accepted?

Not really. Those schools used to be WASP central, now they are just as "diverse" and generally insane as any elite university. So the connections those kids made at Exeter etc. are no longer as important as they used to be.

The best thing you can do from a social perspective is 1) a fraternity with a bunch of rich kids, who will have connections forever, and 2) club sports teams with the same.

I was on a varsity sports team, which is obviously great too.

Also: your GPA only matters for your first job, and most grad schools are completely pointless these days.

Probably not, but why would you? If you're a decent software engineer and read a ton of business books, you can enter the tech/start up world, which is the best place to be by far now.

Ivy league kids used to go to Goldman Sachs and law school. Now they are all going to tech companies. Don't get cucked into thinking the degree actually means anything besides social proof.

Also....NEVER think of yourself as anything less than excellent. Not ever, not even once.

Your self image is the single most important thing in the real world. If you see yourself as a stud, you will end up being successful, and not crack when things get tough.

If you think like a bitch, however.....

Who keeps spamming this Ivy League thread goddamn it

We get it, your early action application was deferred and you're sweating at the idea of going to a 2nd rate private school. You get the same replies every time - IT'S WHAT YOU MAJOR IN AND WHAT CONNECTIONS YOU MAKE.

STOP POSTING THIS THREAD EVERY DAY.
