I want to get rich so that I can say, in all seriousness:

"Escort this man out."

How much power over others can you get?
If someone is on your property and you want them to leave, is it legal to have a guard shoo them out?
Is it still legal if they resist and have to be forced?
How about actual trespassers, who entered without permission in the first place?
If you keep wild dogs on your property, are you liable if they savage a thief?
I've heard there are laws against topping your outer walls with broken glass, because crim-crims shouldn't be given boo-boos. Not that I would go with such a low-end security method, but are these laws actually enforceable?

The state is composed of the same fundamentally selfish bozos that throw cobblestones and smash in shop windows. My main ambition is to become as self-sufficient as possible, in medical matters, in financial matters, and in matters of personal security, police be damned.

I'm kind of a nomad at the moment, but I'm mainly interested in how this stuff pertains to France, Switzerland, Germany and Italy.

And how wealthy do you plan to be to need your personal security team ?

I worked as a bartender in college. I said that at least a few times a weekend to the bouncers.

Because I live in France, near Paris and I know some really wealthy people and they don't have personal security in their home ...

At least a few million. I'm aware that most millionaires live inconspicuously, but I have different motivations.

I intend to employ servants for basic household stuff, so it's not that big a stretch to have a servant with an army or police background who lives on the property. Add a security system with alarms in his room and there you go.

What's the point ? All the country you named aren't dangerous country. You won't have any problem if you're rich ( and even if you're not you won't have a lot I guess ).

And if you're so insecure find yourself a gated community there's no need to hire personal security

My father is pretty wealthy and I've had people escorted from one of our firms or property in general before.
That said, bartender is probably easier.

Come to think of it, having a body guard would be pretty sweet.

I've had so many house parties, and unruly guests over the years that I have had to wrangle out of my home, and it is a massive pain in the ass every time. Also I'm scared the police are gonna end up getting involved and things get fucky.

so yes OP, this would be awesome.

It would give me a sense of power and control.
A gated community is only fractionally better than relying on the police, since I don't give the community guards their orders.

I can expect reliable tap water, too, but I'll also have a well dug for similar reasons. I enjoy self-reliance more or less for its own sake.

I take it they were mostly cooperative, sort of skulking out with the guards a few paces behind?

I've often wondered - do clubs get many lawsuits for what their bouncers get up to?

You want to have a well dug in your garden ?

If you happen to be rich of few millions and want to live near the capital ( I don't know if that's the correct English word for like the "head city" like Washington for USA or Paris for France ) anyway there's no chance the city will allow you to dig the ground as deep as you need to get yourself a well.

I would advice you that you go in the countryside or something, it's cheaper, you'll get your independence, plus you could get a couple of cow to watch over that'll give you " a sense of power "

Capital's the word.
That's what I had in mind - I want a large walled estate and a Georgian style house.
I'd probably be satisfied with an apartment and a hard nosed valet, if I wanted to live in town.

Power is real, anon.
