First thing you need to know is that, by nature, it's a completely self starter position. I recently had a systems analyst that "wanted to get into coding". He wanted to jump right in.

Fortunately my company offered him a multi-week program that was kind of a Java deep swim. It at least taught him enough to be able to communicate basic things with me without sounding like an idiot. I'm still mentoring him but he's taking the effort to do as much as he can without asking me, which is amazing. That's the kind of dev I want. You are constantly learning something new, almost every day. If you're not into that, it's not for you.

Before I found out about my company's offering, I saw a few resources online. Coursera has a course to get into development. I never took a close look at it, but I looked at the syllabus and it seemed pretty solid. It didn't just get into the geeky stuff but explained a lot of concepts as to why and other intuition. Look into it.

After that, find some entry level work to do, or just find a simple idea you like and make it happen. Practice makes perfect. I'm sure you can find someone who would take you in at entry level, eventually. You probably won't make as much(depending on where you're managing), but that's the leap you'll have to take.

Go to their site and sign up. If you've been paying attention to the stock market in the last couple days, you'll see that they are not doing so well.

The main reason is because wealth is being shifted from stocks to bonds. Wealthfront covers both, so get in there and sit on it. Don't expect immediate returns. They've done very well for me over the years. Then again, you shouldn't get your advice from anyone on /biz/. This is just my personal opinion, and I have nothing to gain or lose either way.

I have worked before and had to take a long time off because of medical reasons that made me unable to even drive. I'm better now and more than willing to put my all even into an entry level job. It's hard to convey that on a resume though. I probably won't get a lot of callbacks but it wont stop me from trying.

if I get showed code then Im able to remember it fine and know what most of the lines do individually and even how the different lines of code interact with each other but if I get told "make a program that does x" I will have no fucking clue how to do it even if I know all the individual code that goes in to it

I guess that explanation makes it sound weird but yeah, I guess im like anti-autistic at it which fucking sucks

i hate my office job and sort of wish i had some of the tens of thousands i've sunk into crypto but at the end of the day having $2k show up magically in my bank account every two weeks is a fucking blessing.

I work remotely and am trying to get the courage together to move somewhere interesting since i can live anywhere with wifi.

I was just asking because these $5000 came from nowhere, since I don't remember my grandmother at all. I am just your average Joe coding for living since 2009, now earning $67k per year.
