ITT: Business ideas

So what do we do now boys?

>> No.7207837

I have a very profitable idea, but it requires the help of a Korean citizen, because it involves sending crypto to a specific Korean exchange, let the Korean counterpart do some specific trades and then send me my crypto back.

There are two problems: (1) a trust problem, because I'd be trusting the counterpart with my money and (2) laws.

As for (1), any reasonable person wouldn't scam me because this process can be repeated with pretty much the same profits. So why running away once and ruining it when they can earn much more by doing their part? We'll see.

As for (2), I know that sending fiat out of Korea is illegal, but AFAIK there's no law that prohibits receiving crypto and sending out crypto. Any Korean that can confirm?

---

Outside of crypto, I don't really know. I'm a freelancer and in a couple of years I'm going to have my own company hopefully. Let's see.

Correction: I was a freelancer. I started with Data Science gigs, then after a year or so I was hired full time by a company as CTO. I'm in good relationship with the CEO, which is extremely competent and is teaching me stuff as my mentor (I'm very good at technical stuff, but I have much to learn about dealing with people in person). Anyway, he plans to retire in 2-5 years and wants me to take his place. That's my goal as well.

Wow, well I'm a recently graduated EE and I'm looking to get into SOMETHING, because I'm not really enjoying wageslaving that much as an engineer.

Is Data Science still hot? Or has that flown past? Is there a new hot field emerging with growth?

As an EE you would probably have to integrate your education with something that's closer to DS. The field is still hot, but the days in which you could just write "data scientist" and be hired are now past. There are a lot of incompetent people in the field, so you absolutely want to stand out.

Definitely learn Python and R, then you also need basics in statistics. Deep learning and stuff is super hyped, but in reality it's much harder to apply than it seems. Start with classical ML techniques and then progress from there. You'll also want to know basics in marketing and business in general.

Sorry if I talked only about DS but that's what I know.

I started from Upwork when I was still studying by the way. It's quite challenging to get started because you are competing against China, India, etc. and they ask for very low compensation. I still remember my first job, which was for like $20 and in the end I lost $5 because I had to use a paid tool to finish the job. lol

If you want to get into a very new field, look into applied AI.

I actually already have python and R down, and double majored in physics so statistics are easy. This looks kind of interesting.

>If you want to get into a very new field, look into applied AI.
I love new things, do you know any resources to get started in that?

>I love new things, do you know any resources to get started in that?
yeah dont use python or r for ai
r is an exception if you do a probabilistics approach
learn c++

I mean of course I know C++, everyone knows C++. I was wondering more about leads and resources on the industry.

i cant, never used haskell but i dont see why not
very few use haskell outside of research though from what i can tell
better go with c or c++ if you want a career outside of academia

Im korean, can you share your idea?

>sending fiat out of Korea is illegal
Not really, but the amount is capped by limits. There are ways around this that I use for arbitraging gimps, not entire legal, but not illegal either.

>there's no law that prohibits receiving crypto and sending out crypto
true

Im not sure what you have in mind, but im fucking interested. As for the trust problem, is there a way you could make use of smart contracts?

you cant compete against python when it comes to AI.
you just cant compete against the quick prototyping speed with all the libraries/mods that comes with it.
then with production level code, C > C++
