Of course they're going to release EVs but if no one buys them then it won't do any good. Chevy's Bolt is a great economical EV that's a much better value than Tesla's Model 3 but there's no excitement or hype around it. The real problem is that consumers are finally waking up. The markup on many of these vehicles is laughably insane, while the quality continues to suffer.

Being asked to pay $30,000 for an F150 or $50,000 for a 250 that's going to have to go to the shop a few times a year (with each bill being $1000 or more) isn't something a smart person would deal with. I am surprised it wasn't addressed a decade ago. And as bad as I have seen Ford's been..... Chevrolet is significantly worse. We all know they are designed to break like many tools/appliances these days, but evenby those standards the industry has become a joke.

tldr a $12,500 Kia shouldn't be able to out last a $30,000 truck..... It certainly shouldn't last twice as long. I don't think Ford can recover but if it does it will need to be restructures so heavily I doubt we will recognize the company by the time they do.

Ford Fusion has been selling well despite a lack of promotion, and historically the F 150 has been the country's go to truck for decades - TSLA has completely avoided making one up till now and this moat is likely why. And its the other way around - Chevy volt is the best selling EV on the planet (Model S is in 3rd behind that and the fucking Nissan Leaf). The markups are just because the overhead is fucking ridiculous. These companies make like 1% on revenues after you strip out all their expenses. They've been forced to literally factor in life and death into their profit margins (ie do we recall this faulty part in all the vehicles, or is it cheaper to just let people die and just pay for litigation?). For longevity, why wouldn't you make your best selling vehicles last a smaller lifetime? you sell more cars that way - AAPL does the same shit with the iPhone.
Semi-related, Tesla is also has a huge legal risk. Self driving cars--without question--will run into issues/glitches and if anything goes wrong theyll be the first company to be dragged into court over it.

yes but that is when sports authority and sports chalet where around. Think about it. If there is $100million in that market and sports chalet and sports authority taking some of that market (this is basic econmoics the study of scarcity in case you didn't know) BGFV is only going to get a little bit of it. Now there is mainly BGFV and DKS which majority go to BGFV because they are a different customer base they're like the walmart of sporting goods.

Walmart is also trading with a 310billion+ market cap with a P/E ratio of 28 and a dividend of 1.91% while BGFV is trading with a market cap of 119Million with a P/E ratio of 5.65 and a dividend of 10.62 comparing the two in that sense is a bit retarded imo

Stocked up on some more preferred shares for muh dividends. WFC-PY is trading at nearly face value for those interested in that.

Also a good time to get some bargain utilities. My suggestion I made a few weeks ago (FE) is doing quite well with a lot of upside potential and a great dividend.

I understand the paranoia, I was the same way when I started out investing but no, almost never unless it's being moved around. Holding cash is like taking out a loan at the rate of inflation for every second you hold it.

It's never a full bear market, that's what I'm trying to say. There's always money to be made somewhere or at the very least somewhere to put it while getting a decent return having it parked there.

Another example I gave, FE. Pic related during the 08-09 crash. All that happened was it returned to where it was, maybe dipping a little below enterprise value. You would have still made dividends during that whole time. Certain sectors simply can't go into a bear market. People need electricity, no matter what the market is doing. That's why they're called defensive positions.

My prediction for Canadian weed tomorrow is gap down on everything, settle out to an overall -5% sector average by lunch, then sharp rise in the last two hours to close even with today's close. Monday... I don't know. My bet on this sector is that bear market will be shorter than normal as there are a number of catalysts for a bull run expected this spring; senate passes bill C-64 (legalization) being the biggie, new Horizon junior growers ETF should start trading mid February, many of the small caps will be receiving their sales licenses around this time, tax return season coming up as well.

I feel shitty about mistiming the bottom of this trench by a whopping 20% but nothing to be done about it now. If someone told me last Friday that Aphria would not only hit $15 briefly but actually close at that price this week I would have told them they were out of their mind.
