There's been a kajillion of these threads this month all with different TA, obviously they can't all be right and when it breaks one way or another someone is right and someone is wrong. that's what retards on /biz/ and retards that I know IRL never seem to get. Everyone seems to think it goes like this:
>whales sell their alts and go BTC
>BTC goes on bullrun while alts get BTFO
>biz virgins buy alts for BEFORE whales and the whales end up holding BTC bags or forced to buy back their position in alts at a higher price

This never happened and will never happen. No whale or group of whales will leave their position in alts and then buy back at higher price AFTER dipshits on biz already bought it

They way it really goes is like this:
>whales sell alts and jump to BTC while alts get BTFO
>biz fomos and does the same
>whales buy back alts at a cheaper price
>biz ends up holding BTC bags and they either
a) keep holding these bags while they go sideways and alts reach new ATH
b) sell BTC bags to buy back into their alts at a higher price

This happens every fucking time and it will happen again and again. Everytime I see a dipshit trying to time the market he maybe is succesful 1 or 2 times but eventually gets BTFO.

Your technical analysis is useless as crypto is 70% driven by hype and news. Let me make a more accurate prediction based on actual real info:

Futures just expired, so we can expect that the massive random dipping will stop for a while. BTC has been trading sideways, if not with a slight uptrend for a bit now, and everyone that got out will be FOMO'ing in soon. Sunday is always a slow day to it will trade sideways some more tomorrow. Monday is usually the day when we recover from Sunday. Tuesday we will real gains and the first signs of the actual reversal.

Futures allow people to short (make money when btc goes down). If you're a company or person that has lots of money, this is how it works:

1) start shorting BTC
2) sell 10 million worth of BTC
3) BTC drops, you get money because of the shorting
4) the drop in BTC is starting a panic sell, BTC drops further
5) you get more money from your short

There we got a problem. You're assuming that all those Wall Street traders are seasoned crypto veterans who've been accumulating from like 2010 and have stashed millions worth of private keys. And, of course, they did not get into crypto only this winder during the hype. But in that case, why would they wait for Wall Street futures in the first place, a tool for luddite boomers? You don't need to have the bitcoin beforehand to sell bitcoin, lol. Don't you know what margin trading is?

I can go on poloniex or exchange with margin trading and "borrow" any amount of BTC to sell.

Also, now it only becomes easier for them to do this. We are now at the bottom. If they were smart they would now go long, buy a shitton of btc at the current low price. They get money from the long because their purchase just pushed the price up. The market reverses, they get more money from their long AND from the BTC they hold. And at some point we will reach a peak, and they can use their btc to repeat the shorting cycle.

If anything you might want to enter Verge. It's practically consistent with BTC/USD chart, so the more Verge you have the bigger the profit you'll turn when BTC moves up. And it will.

Lol, google "forex". This stuff has been going on for like 20 years at least. In the past it used to be for example "eur/usd", now it's "btc/usd". Forex, futures, margin/trading are all established standard tools that everyone has been using for decades.

These tricks have already existed long before crypto. Crypto markets are nothing new, it's just another currency market. They are much more prepared for this than us.

Crypto is not just "another" currency market, it's a totally different ecosystem with inherent risks not present in other markets, and to do something as simple as using a third-party exchange requires that you be part of this ecosystem. Those people who, you say, manipulate the bitcoin market, do they even know how to use a bitcoin wallet? Seriously. Because if they don't, I doubt they can manipulate anything at all other than publishing Warren Buffet-tier "analysis".

And you think they can't work with a bitcoin wallet while every idiot here seems to have done it?

Wallstreet traders aren't dumbasses.
BTC isn't as hard as you think.
Easy way to launder/win money:
accum some btc
open short posish
buy advertising space, pro shitposters, leddit accounts, spam fud for a few days.
simultaneously, wash trade under market price
pay the fees.
watch the shitshow unfold.
sell your btc on the rebound

What's the volume on those futures? Is it even half sufficient?

>>6995256
Of course they do. But what you're talking about is not algo trading, but rather a hypothetical manipulation that someone's doing in private.

>>6995282
Those people are also extremely risk-averse, and the crypto scene is know for its security risks like stolen funds and collapsing exchanges. Now you're saying they became bitcoin whales overnight who'll put 10 million at stake in an attempt to crush the market that they don't even fully understand.

Let me rephrase it again: did they really wait for Wall Street futures to accumulate btc? Seriously? What stopped them from doing all that you listed years before, in that case?

>> No.6995644

>>6995507

Just saying, if they are experienced in algo-trading they logically also have a very deep understanding of the underlying market mechanics.

The fact that crypto is unregulated and so volatile only makes their dirty tricks works even better compared to regular forex.

When the government says they went to regulate crypto they're not only after your tax money. They also want to prevent this kind of obvious market manipulation to protect little shrimp like us.

>> No.6995736

>>6995644
I'd like to see the volume figures on those futures. I think I saw them not long ago and they were rather unimpressive. It's like the whole thing doesn't compute at all

Of course crypto is unregulated and volatile, but in order to manipulate something as big as BTC it requires much more than a sudden access to a new Wall Street terminal

>> No.6995749

>>6995589
anon answered already:
they didn't believe in it.
lacked liquidity. cboe, cme futures allowed the opening of leveraged short posish at high volume

altough if you look into it, you'll probably see a similar (but less dramatic) crash shortly after the opening of exchanges allowing margin trading (finex, bitmex).

>> No.6995830

>>6995736
i'd like to see that too.
wall street terminal gives an incentive to do it,
since it creates clean money.
let's see if the volume is enough to justify the expenses.
but if you look at it from a laundering point of view, it's not as hard to accomplish
clean money > dirty one

and media exposure is cheaper than you'd think

Is it really high, though? Compared with the insane amount necessary to crash BTC

What does that mean, you say they did not believe in crypto? Yet they knew how the blockchain works and already accumulated a lot?

That's at least 10k bitcoin.

Now look at the gdax orderbook. For about 1500 btc I can bring down the gdax BTC value down 10% INSTANTLY. And that's without counting the spotless that will be triggered on the way down. Nor the panic selling after.

And that's in today's bearish sentiment. If you did this during the fearful last 2 weeks, it would have worked much much better (and it did).

Blockchain isn't a magic secret, some of those guys are smart.
They did not in crypto as cryptoheads do,
some believe crypto is a way to free the people from the banks and the govt control.
some see it as a way to benefit from this belief.

if we want to do the research we need:

gdax (or other major exchanges) volume from 16 to 22 december
cme and cboe volumes before the first exp date.

don't know how to get this info, though.
