How much longer will this last. Please just give it to me straight oldfags. This shit has been dumping for almost a month straight. I'm free, I understand now. I'm ready to know

>> No.6834378

Back before 2018 I foresaw a bearish January, and witnessing the normie shattering effect of the NY crash, I'm relatively confident that all of Q1 2018 will be a time of general FUD, consolidation and relative quiet as new money leaves the market again out of revulsion (normies got hit hard this crash). Eventually the markets will rebound and begin a new cycle of growth doe. BTC may go as low as 7k as sell pressure keeps the markets hostage. But I think by Q3 2018 , we're looking at a bull run again.

Either mid to late feb with Chinese New Year being over. Mid April once tax season is over. Or once AML (anti money laundering) protocols are implemented so the banks can trade cryptos ‘safely’. The problem with this last one is that it will limit which coins are ‘safe’ and mean any coins deemed unfit by the regulators will not be touched by banks, that includes the paper trail. If you buy xrp with funds that used to be in xrm they will be tainted for instance.
This is all besides the point really as the banks do not want you investing full stop as they need your fiat for their loans. They may compromise on an AML regulated market tho.
So yeah. Late feb, April or X where fucks us anyway.

Nice Wojak OP. The 'bubble' should last until there's finally serious attempts at regulation/clampdown by US and EU.

We've had years of Asia based FUD and Korea/China/Japan are waaaaay ahead in terms of regulating and accepting cryptos despite the regular FUD bullshit their officials still occasionally come out with.

Government FUD really hasn't even started yet in the West. When it does, expect the market generally to go down signficantly but Asian cryptos to holdup better than most, and then to rocket when things settle down because the major Asian countries are already several years past this stage and will more or less have regulatory frameworks in place for crypto domestically.

Keep a decent amount of solid Asian projects in your portfolio to hedge against Western government bullshit.

Wrong. This dip was easily predictable and it's due in part to normie scum but the driving factor is the cme futures.

The cme futures are closing late January. One closed a few days ago and the other will close in a day or so. Dates don't matter too much.

Bitcoin was held stable during December and early January they began too crush it. Putting some fear into weak hands. 1 week before the first cme future close date they dumped btc. The scared dumb money paniced and sold sinking lower.

Cme closes and smart money rakes in the money on the btc that they shorted then they buy the cheap btc which pumps the price.

There's another futures call which will be shorted again (dump the btc they bought cheap for additional profit). Hence we dip again right now and it'll continue until futures closes.

After it closes they'll buy up the cheap btc again using the profits made from shorting futures. Btc will pump. There are no more immediate future calls so btc will continue to pump.

New futures date and values will be set. Btc will pump to whatever value is set then it will go stable.

Rinse and repeat

Corrections are good, but the longer it lasts the worse public opinion and media attention that crypto gets. This is different, it isn't just neets and gooks noticing crypto now. It's on a world stage finally and serious volatility and long term dumps like this, even though they've happened in the past, don't look good on paper or on tv.

Mass public attention is a double edged sword. Good things, advertisements, and new investors will flock in when things go well, but more serious dumping occurs also with the influx of weak hands and scary media stories.

Basically, it would be good for this to not last for over half a year

That's actually a fuck tonne for trial run. Expect to see it significantly increase in the coming months now that the trial run has been an absolute success.

You gotta realise how futures work. Dumb money thinks btc will be worth 40k on futures call. So they create a futures contract to 'promise' to buy 10 btc at 30k each (they're cash settled no btc ever changes hands here so it's a promise to buy). So dumb money agrees to pay 300k and if he's right and btc is worth 40k on that day he'll recieve 400k cash.

Smart money comes along. They know that btc will be 10k on that day because they plan on dumping btc price. Smart money accepts dumb money's contract. On that day he will receive 300k and he will pay the going rate of 10btc for it (he expects this to be 100k). The day arrives and thanks to weak handed fuckwits btc is only at 9k he pays the sad dumb money guy 90k and receives 300k.

The point I'm making is that 90 mil is majority dumb money. Smart money made a fucking killing off this and it was just to test the waters to see if they could pull it off

>>6835897
Like i said as soon as the next cme future call happens (I'd have to look up the exact date, but it's in a day or so) smart money will get paid and they will buy up the cheap btc and this time we won't stop until cme futures get set again.

As for bull run. Some coins will moon alongside btc and others will get rekt. We'll see an overall bull run again when BTC stablises. but i can't say when that will happen because it entirely depends on the future call price that gets set

CBE and CBOE have them on their sites. CBE expires on the 26th. The best theory is that we'll see another bull trap before then, and then a crash to 8k. The CBE contracts were sold in units of 5btc each, so people who bought those are going to be grumpy, and it would be bad to make them too grumpy and kill off a potential goldmine. There's a lot of risk that the 8k bottom will fall out, which would be bad for the immediate future of crypto trading.

One thing that I don't really see happening is a run to 25k in Feb. I also think that too many alts are massively overvalued, and will eat shit on the 27th. This whole thing of ICOs being the new Kikestarter needs to fuck off.

Right now is a good time to start learning everything about the big bad world of securities trading. In the next year or two we're going to have crypto prime brokerages, which means index funds, ETFs, derivatives, and so on.

Basically it'll allow old world investors and institutions access to the ico market via purchasing ETFs - I'm personally going long on Ada because it's attractive and sellable to ETF style investors imo.

Could be the season of the alts if that happens, who doesn't love goofy ico projects - old and new world alike. They'll have tons of fun joining in on moon meme missions, it's anyone's guess now.

There is a lot of FUD for tether. Would it not be better to go back to fiat and then buy in again?

The longer it goes on, the richer you become at the end of it. Unless you sold like a cuck faggot.

It really couldn't be easier than that to understand. Hold BTC/ETH and LINK/REQ and just play vidya instead of binance.

It is this fucking simple, just put some fiat and buy the dip if you're that anxious to do "something" FFS

All previous cycles have been proportional in duration to the min-max prices of the boom and bust. In other words, the higher the price spike and subsequent fall, the longer the time before the next.

Think of the crypto long term graph as a fractal heartbeat of a new economic system springing into life.

So end of 2010 to 2011.
2012 to end of 2013
2014 to start of 2017.

I genuiely would not be amazed if crypto remains bearing until 2021, but that it then spikes up to 100k per BTC.

holding REQ, ICX, BNB. yeah I'm probably just gonna stop looking at my delta, I'm pretty confident that I will be a lot richer eoy if I just hold. I've noticed that most of the really veteran guys either use bots for daytrading or hold and do nothing

Two big events in summer 2020! Bitcoin going to moon to all time high during that time.
If we have bear Market from 7/2018 to 1/2020 then load up on all the cheap coins, but fundamentally solid coins.

Summer 2020! Bigtime moon

Are you kidding? This means more money entering the market, more liquidity, more ways to make (and lose) money, and more ways to spread your risk around. Crypto's main functions are to improve trust and security (accounting scandals should become a thing of the past once everyone is on blockchain, and there are a lot of good use cases for supply chain management and ERP) and remove transactional barriers. It's an implementation of triple entry accounting. There's no way the banks wouldn't be balls deep in it.

Halvening does not always have an immediate impact on prices, and will get slower each time due to scaling wihin the market.

The 2016 halvening caused the 2017 price growth. The 2020 halvening will only be felt sept-oct 2021, if you go for a literal carbon copy of the previous fractals.

What bear market??? I cashed out my initial investment and I'm still holding 4x my initial investment in crypto. I started in September. If this is a bear market then I can't wait for the bull market.

kek.

Anyway, shit is going DOWN in the crypto world. Carillion collapse in UK; contrived US federal shutdown. Venzuela merked. Saudi assets frozen. The transacting of national payments has ground to a halt. The petrodollar is dead.

If you're a simp, you might think that this would mean instant crypto boomtime. No. These players were crypto whales. They buy Lambos and trash them in the desert when they run out of petrol. They have too much money to ever spend so of course they have crypto. But you cannot pay rentboys and bar tabs with crypto yet, so they need fiat for their lifestyles. They are liquidating their crypto supplies RIGHT NOW to live out their last days of Pompeii bacchanal.

Rejoice, brothers. The swamp is being drained. The shitters are being squeezed out of crypto.

When the futures contract starts
What do they look at before deciding to go short or long? No one knows. It's probably random since they can just manipulate the market afterwards
