>friend harps on about how his term deposit is making him 4%p.a
>he doesn't realise how much inflation cuts into that

>> No.678488

4% for a term deposit is pretty sweet. Please congratulate your friend on securing such an advantageous deal.

How much you earning on your large collection of memes, Mister Financial Wizard?

>You know what's sad. When someone creates a post on /biz/ desperately looking for attention by making fun of someone else. But unknown to them, the thing they're making fun of actually isn't funny. Often they accuse of friend of making a mistake that in fact is a sound or smart decision. And yet OP is so clueless that when their thread doesn't instantly get 19 supportive posts, they pretend that they're really a master at the art of trolling and were having a laugh all along. These cucks should stick to Facebook, because usually their friends are too stupid or too insecure to call them out on their retarded comments, and consequently their fragile puerile ego can fester in a nurturing environment.

shrektext is retarded but he's got a point, a term deposit of 4% is pretty good considering the USA is in serious danger of deflation.

the collapse in oil and subsequently gas prices has rocked the CPI and USD is at the highest it's been in 11 years. even if you take a look at agriculture futures, the thing is in a sell-off frenzy.

4% risk free p.a. is amazing for someone who doesn't trade.

I closed my 4.6% and popped it into an index fund instead

I don't know what the rates are like in the US though

>> No.678559

4% doesn't seem like anything to get excited about it's cool if your literally doing nothing with the money. If I dropped 10k in the bank I'd only see 400 dollars after a year of not touching it. Doesn't seem like a whole bunch. Although I suppose if he dropped 1 million in and received 40k back that would be pretty sweet.

fucking fool oil is precisely where you want to be at. Buy LOW sell HIGH. Historically gas prices always go up. When you bet with everyone and they are right your margins are small. When you bet against them and your right your margins are huge. Do you really think gas prices won't go back up? I've seen a 40 cent increase in less than 2 months here you might want to revisit your thinking and stop following the herd. get in there buy up the shares while the getting is good, your pockets will thank you 6-9 months from now when prices are back where they were or higher.
