certain big exchanges use tether to avoid price volatility. Why tether instead of USD? Probably because they're laundering money/ponzi/etc.

tether collapses, one of two things happen

1) involved exchanges only allow crypto to crypto transactions. Trades are now harder because of volatility, volume goes down, price goes down.

2) involved exchanges shut down because tether was the only thing fueling them. Loads of people lose millions in crypto, entire market takes a huge hit.

2nd option more likely IMO but either way there's a dip coming when tether crashes

this is correct. More accurately, bitfinex is running a scam with tether, and the other exchanges are in on it, or are unaware and holding the potato. Hard to imagine that someone running an exchange would be truly unaware of this by now though.

The "supposed" reason to use Tether was to get around KYC requirements. But if you just look at the fucking market cap, it's quite clear that they are just printing more tether out of nowhere. It may have been legit a long time ago, but it is a scam now, and it is tightly interwoven in some of the biggest crypto exchanges.

ITT: Morons that think tether running a fractional reserve will not impact them because they don't use tether.

You do realize people have been pumping every coin in existence with fractional tethers which means that the valuation we have now is false. That means a huge dip in the long term if it does turn out that tether is fractional. Unless you got in at $100 ETH and $1000 BTC I'd be worried about tether.

Not saying they *are* running a fractional reserve but if they are, that's definitely cause for concern even if you didn't use tether.

Why can't you morons put 2 and 2 together? Oh wait, i'm on /biz/ and you guys are only good at memes and nothing else.

The reason I was asking whether people had been able to cash out is that USD flows in and out of crypto are key to understanding the market.

In the past month a lot of normie retail money has been sucked into cryto, and the first dribbles of (((Goldman Sachs))) speculative money.

But where has that Fiat gone? Ordinary retail punters have still been capped at $10k a day of transfers to USD. Where's the rest? Pretty sure it's not in the USDT "lock box".

I used lykke.com
Cashed out 7 bitcoins, I think it never took over 2 days to get the money.
I am to paranoid about getting scammed to cash out all at the same time though.
I think the btc trasnaction fees were more expensive than waht lykke wanted for the trades, lmao
