It's not a matter of it though. It's a matter of when. There WILL be coins lost throughout the years, and there will be NO MORE coins created after 2140. Even if it takes a thousand thousand years, eventually there will be a few coins left, with its prices so astronomically high that it would be deemed unusable.

I'm not arguing for how long bitcoin would be used for. I'm arguing that the basic fundamental implementation of bitcoin is garbage that is bound to fail eventually. No currency should have a built-in "expiration date" like this.

Agreed. It seems like BTC should have been more of a research device to help spur on better alternatives. Now that there are plenty of altcoins, Bitcoin should be put to rest and never touched again.

threads like this lead me to believe the volatility of crypto is due more to the absolute brainless behavior and reason of the average crypto investors.
Investors are just totally inexperienced and have no idea how to deal with bubbles gains and dips. Everything has to be rationalized by one source to them.
