From the few historical precedents we have, we know that crypto bubbles of the size we've seen recently tend to bottom out somewhere in the neighborhood of 25% of ATH, meaning around $5000 for bitcoin this time around. It has all the signs of a massive bubble. Expecting another run up like the last year...well, that's pure speculation, and worse odds than Vegas, based on nothing more than hopes and dreams. Where are the buyers for this next run up? The average person on the street? Not happening. Everyone who wants to be in Bitcoin pretty much is, except for kids with $100 who think they can turn that into a million dollars in 6 months, because they're being pumped in forums like this.
IF and until you can get your money out easily, or use Bitcoin to pay major bills (not likely, not this decade), I don't see anything that could keep this from collapsing down to 2016 prices. The entire run up was based on speculation, and the run down is based on people not seeing a future. It's not currency, until it's converted to a currency, and doing that, and the issues with doing that, are what I see as it's main problem.
And, if a run starts, a serious run, there is NOTHING to stop it, other than the brokerages shutting down, and that doesn't inspire confidence in the general public when their money is at stake.
