SpaceX is good enough, Tesla is a trainwreck. It is not because of their cars, but because of the manufactoring and the business surrounding it. At no year, has he delivered the number of Teslas he promised to do. Several aspects of the business is terrible - for instance Tesla doesn't own the batteries (they licens it, at a near market price), the customer service is unsustainable, the purchase of Solarcity (a near bankrupt company which Musk also owned, but transferred to Tesla).

I love Elon as much as the next guy, he is probably the greatest innovators of our time, but Tesla is doomed.

>> No.6495015

That would be because he releases beta tests as finished products except in this case when your product is in beta it can (and has already) kill someone rather than just crash your computer

Plus the giant screen in the dash looks shit

Plus the driverless capability is technically behind Waymo

Plus car companies have almost always been shit investments.

Plus driverless cars will become rent-only, and given that cars are unoccupied 95% of their lives, this will absolutely destroy vehicle sales overall.

All in all, absolutely dog shit level investment.

The batteries in the Tesla car is not owned by Tesla !! they are owned by Panasonic and then licensed to Tesla - not a cooperation, not a partner, they litterally just licens the tech from Panasonic.

Yea we have heard about in the context that it doesn't produce the number of cars that it was projected to produce. We hear about it when people talk about the unfeasible high percentage of the car that is manufactured by manual labour. I'd be interested in reading that report.

I've been told Tesla will fail countless times, they will never be profitable, even early on that they'll go under and I'll be driving the next Fisker.

Then I give the skeptics a ride in my car and watch their attitude change as I make them shit their pants from light to light and explain the economics of "fuelling" my car every night instead of dragging my ass to the gas station 2x a week.

Simply put, people fear what they don't understand. Take advantage of that and grow your stack.

I've driven the Model 3. Every bit of it still feels like a higher end Tesla to me, even though some of the material qualities are commonly found in cars below its current price point.

Tesla is constantly improving their fit and finish and I think they'll exceed delivery targets in 2018.

As for how the Model 3 drives, it handles very very well. Suspension can feel a bit busy sometimes but overall its a pleasure to drive. It's spacious and comfortable, even for a taller guy like myself. You get used to not having an instrument cluster after 15 minutes of driving. The minimalist dash is beautiful, especially with the premium interior options.

The only thing that felt cheap about the Model 3 to me was the charge port flap. I love the new door handles and the frunk is still decently usable despite being smaller than both RWD and AWD versions of the S & X.

Seriously, I've been jerking it to every bit of info I could get on model 3 forums until a few good reviews came out on Youtube. Can't fkn wait man. I figured the suspension would be more "sporty", but really you cant beat it in its price class. 3rd times the charm ;)

I've driven over 30 different so-called energy efficient vehicles... 1.0 & 2.0 Volt, 1.0 Bolt, 1.0 & 2.0 Leaf, Mitsubishi iMiev, Ford Energi models, BMW i3 & i8, Prius plugin hybrid, Golf GTE, Volvo plugin, Porsche e-hybrids, Lexus H models, etc etc etc.

Nothing compares to any Tesla's. Even the 1.0 Tesla Roadster I drove had an element of innovation to it that I felt would change the future of the automobile, and it was rattling and shaking its way down a straight road as I pushed it three times the speed limit.

If you haven't driven a Model S (or X, if you like sitting just a touch higher) try and take one for a test drive if you're close to a Tesla store. It'll give you a feel for what I'm trying to get across.
