SUMO is solid. The only downside is the devs have a few batches of timelocked coins that release to themselves every couple years.

Good cause it keeps them invested in growing the coin, bad cause some people don't approve of it so they offered to give the first batch as a donation to Monero (thus all cryptnote coin) development.

The mining is very fair as well - early miners don't get the highest block rewards so all the coins can't be flash-mined by early adopters over the first month/years.
