How do you know HODL will pay off rather than biting your tongue and hopping back to ETH.

Not at ATH, but if a shitcoin like pic related keeps sinking and ETH keeps going up and up, presumably the longer you HODL (without positive movement) the more painful the sell will be anyway. How do you make the call?
