Precious metals are the asset MOST difficult to confiscate. Stocks, bonds, cars, houses, bank accounts, investment accounts, 401k, IRA, pensions - ALL much easier to confiscate than metals. We're talking about the [current year] US federal government. They'll psyop the tax cattle into believing PM stackers are bad and have a "cash reward" for turning in your neighbors who own PMs.
By the time it gets to that, the only bad players in action will be fed employees, welfare recepitants and illegal immigrants who are allowed to illegitimately vote.
Once that scenario plays out, it'll be a nightmare, followed by the adults being in charge once business is taken care of.

That's what fiat is designed to do. Only the banks win. The rest of society loses.

Bros! I'm the turbo autist from last thread. I finally did it. I took heart and went into the precious metals shoppe. Thanks for giving me courage everyone who responded. Today was like the fifth time i walked by after work but today, I finally went in.

It's this little hole in the wall place with a bulletproof door and a display in the window showing current gold and silver prices. When you go in the door locks behind you. There's this bimbo manning the counter and she's just moderately disinterested and very manner of factly in a way that works just fine for me. Just asks me what I want and since I've been milling it over for a week now I told her three of the classic one ounce silver thingies. Paid in cash. Bada bing, bada boom, in and out.

Unfortunately as a europoor I don't have a glorious god given right to bear arms and defend myself and my property, but here's a pic of today's spoils and my Beretta beanshooter.

godspeed, stackers

Buying silver and gold has "opportunity cost." You are giving up potential gains investing in stock/equities by buying gold and silver in the hope of waiting on future outperformance of metals. When you buy gold and silver you are gambling that debt is going to become unsustainable and weaken the dollar (which it is) or that other countries will abandon the dollar and form a new gold backed currency (Which they are)

I keep wanting to buy more silver but the problem with it is that you basically never make your premium back unless the purchases and sales are both timed many years apart. With gold, I know I'll get my premium back if I hold it. But with silver, even the lowest premium stuff still requires a huge jump in spot to recover.

Oh, totally; if you get something pretty you're paying a premium for the art, not for the value of the metal. It's the same as buying jewelry or chains or whatever with gold - unless the seller is desperate for cash they're going to expect more for the artistry put into it. If you're wanting to stack simply for melt, stack as if you were going to melt it. If I'm patient I can usually find constitutional below spot, and scrap sterling below melt. Maybe not during a runup like this but if the market cools there are opportunities.

We answer this "question" in every thread, year after year. Assuming you aren't just a paid demoralization agent reading from the same old script, you are under a spell. It's the spell that makes you believe that trading paper scam tokens, rags with a banker's promise printed on them, for history's own money, made in the heart of a star beyond the reach of human avarice, is just some kind of shitcoin gambling with the ultimate purpose of getting you more banker cum rags.

Turning banker rags into silver and gold is not a day trade. It's a long-term bet on the instability of the massive debt bubble upon which the global economy teeters. It is strategic fortification against the corruption and avarice of politicians, bankers, and the other scammers that are milking the last drops from an exhausted, victimized world.

If you want to short-term trade for scam tokens, there is the stock market and fifty threads about shit coins to keep you busy until things fall apart.

And here is a small chest, but not a one-hander.

Why are you buying silver just to turn around and sell it? Doesn't make sense. In the USA if you buy a new car and then turn around and sell it, you lose 20%. Do you imagine people in the business of buying and selling precious metals are doing it for free? What are you driving at?

If you don't like what the buyer is offering don't sell. If you got yourself in a position where you MUST sell, then that is your mistake. If you invest short-term money in a long term project you are gambling. If you gamble you risk taking a loss.

Good morning frens, I hope all your stacks have been growing fat and shiny lately. Been away focusing on working for the LCS and learning the trade but I just got back from a nice little estate sale and wanted to share some succulent slurps.

The listing on www.estatesales.net didn't look promising so I got there at opening at 9AM, person #18 at the back of the line. I was allowed in a few minutes later and was pleased to see that there was actually some nice stuff inside. I took a look at the paltry $4/each jewelry selection and while inspecting a chunky little solid 10K gold antique Masonic DeMolay pin a wrinkly boomer next to me complained that it looked like the family kept all the good stuff. Yep, you keep thinkin' that ole' lady kek. $4.24 total for 4.71g of 10k gold worth $167 melt was a good start.

In the garage I saw a shelf of shiny silver and most was just antique quadruple plate and "silver on copper" junk, but immediately the telltale tarnishing on a respectably sized $3 creamer in the corner caught my eye. On the bottom was just a simple rectangular "Wishart" hallmark (a silversmith in NYC active 1793-1824), but if you've ever handled antique American flatware and hollowware you'd know it's pre-1860s .900 coin silver. There wasn't any sterling of any sort anywhere so I figure it got cherrypicked by the family or sale coordinators, but thankfully most people don't know anything about early 19th century shiny so they let good stuff slip through more often than you'd expect. $3.18 total for 203g of .900 worth $187 melt, cheapies don't get much cheaper than that!

I also got several good old books and some great antique hand-tools not pictured in addition to a huge pre-WW1 antique German swirl marble for $2 that I can probably flip for close to $100 if my 5 year old will give it back lol. Spent a total of $54.06, with just $7.42 of that yielding $354 worth of PMs. Estate sales are a fun way to spend an hour on the weekends, give them a try and good luck!

It was an IRL in-person estate sale, they're held when boomoids croak and the heirs want to dispose of everything they owned so it's all priced like a garage or yard sale but throughout the whole house. You go to www.estatesales.net and search your area for upcoming in-person sales, usually held over 2-3 days. Many estates are liquidated via auction online nowadays but I always prefer an old fashioned tag sale.

>>59026333
>don't you get that on plate too?

Not the telltale tarnishing of good silver. Quadruple plate on white metal/Britannia alloy often turns an even dark blue/grey so you can cross it off from across the room and more modern silverplate over brass/copper develops an attractive colorful sometimes iridescent type of tarnish, whereas good solid silver usually develops an ugly splotchy brown/grey/black tarnish. When you've handled hundreds of pounds of antique sterling and a boatload of silverplate the difference really jumps out at ya, I tried to capture it in picrel with the splotchy 200 year old coin silver milk jug on some more colorfully tarnished plate so hopefully you see what I mean.

Wow that's fuggin' awesome, congrats man! What kind of silver did you find, old sterling silverware? Usually the good stuff gets slurped within the first few hours of a sale so if you came across it on the 2nd day you were pretty lucky, things clearly stamped "STERLING" or .925 get gobbled up quick if there's local competition for cheapies. If what you found is indeed legit and it was still waiting for you a while after opening it implies that you may be in an area lacking much scrapper activity so you'd be wise to keep monitoring www.estatesales.net and try to hit promising future sales as early as you can, fattening the stack with shiny priced at just a fraction of melt feels really damn good.

>>59028686
>one near me sold some silver below spot recently. even gold coins below spot

Excellent news bongfren, I know that the 2nd hand market for old sterling and whatnot is very competitive there because of VAT on new bullion so if local auctions are selling below spot you should get in and slurp hard

Yes, that's 100% legit! I've seen anons mistakenly buy plate thinking it was good so without a pic I couldn't be sure but you absolutely killed it, that's how ya do cheapies fren! One thing to keep in mind is the matching style knife handles are also made of sterling, they're either hollow or filled with plaster/resin, and usually the stamped/incuse hallmarks are very hard to see compared to the raised marks on spoons and forks and sometimes even entirely missing even though they're good silver, so if you ever see hallmarked silverware and matching pattern knives be sure to buy them all; a normal size dinner knife handle yields on average about 20 grams of sterling.

Anyway congrats again anon, I've found sterling as cheap as only around 10 cents per troy ounce but that doesn't happen often, your slurp at only 1/8th of melt was a screaming bargain I'd be proud of any day of the week. Keep it up bro, I have a feeling this is just the first of many cheapies for you.

Do you guys think gold grams are worth it if the premiums aren't bad? It's such a small denomination but it's probably much easier to liquidate if the time ever comes.

The small gold pieces I bought 2 years ago are worth more in melt now than I paid for with premium back then.

This is where my cheapie stacking strategy really comes together. I collect antiques and really love the craftsmanship and beauty of high quality old silver so I keep almost all the good stuff in an ever-growing pirate booty hoard. It could all be melted and refined if necessary but is worth a premium to collectors and is much more enjoyable than basic bullion, kinda like how the value floor of coin collector, libertad or panda stackers' stacks is the melt value but unless SHTF they enjoy numismatic/collector market gains well above spot price too.

For the common, damaged or otherwise undesirable sterling silverware and gold jewelry (for example I'm keeping the 200+ year old creamer but will refine the 10k gold pin) I send it in to get refined into silver bullion bars and 1/10 oz gold rounds by Prospector's Gold and Gems (PG&G) in Colorado, no business license or creds required any individual can do it too: https://prospectorsgoldandgems.com/silver-refining/

There are fees of course but when you're paying a fraction of spot for your scrap the liquidity and premium value added is well worth it, no one will pay top dollar for our crunched up scrap but turn it into based old-school hand-pours and that same silver will be just as desirable and liquid as any other respected bullion products. You have lots of slurping ahead of you before you've got a batch worth sending in but that's what I recommend doing with everything that isn't worth enough of a premium to keep or flip profitably on eBay, good luck and Godspeed anon!

>PG&G
I sent a large lot to them recently due to your prior posts. I opted for a cash out vs hand poured bars though. When I sent the package in, silver was a little over $31. It took them 3 months to 'process' and assay my lot, then another 3 weeks to get a check. Now, they have fantastic percentage payouts at 90/92%, don't get me wrong. The most competitive I've found without needing a business license and tax number. But, the spot price that they used was in the mid $28's. I had no control over when they processed the lot with regards to spot. That's one of the only drawbacks to working with them. Other than that, I was quite happy with the business transaction.

Note to all the newfags: Keep your cheapie slurping on the down low. It's getting crowded enough out here as it is.

I thought I'd be like master or esquire at most.
Also I gotta say, pouring the entire contents of a chest of coins into a weighing scale was so satisfying and a special moment; even if you are making it in investment, you can't do that with all your stocks or crypto.
