not much in reality. Because one must find others willing to value, accept, receive, and hold the good. When people bring up the examples of "I want his apples, but he doesn't want my oranges", it's literally the silver and copper.
Don't get me wrong nao, metals do have practical application in the industry and hold some value because of that. It's just that nobody outside of the little hobby club is ever going to pay some premium or bullshit like that on a piece of metal, that'll go straight into the fiery forges of the metalworks.

I made a graph showing when Gold dipped significantly over the last 10 years
I define a dip as a time span of atelast a few days where the price fell significantly to previous months so even though there is a dip in September 2019 it was still cheaper ro buy in September 2017 even though there is no dip for this year since gold price has increased significantly between those two years
Following this graph the best time to buy are in March followed by june and then spring
Worst time to buy would be January

Thoughts?
Do you think this is helpful at all?

That's pretty interesting. Gold is seasonal for a variety of reasons. One, among many, reasons why gold has done nothing but go up is new Basel 3 rules. They made it harder to naked short or something like that. Like you had to take delivery or be in possession of your trade. Something like that. So tptb want gold to rise.

Both are grossly overpriced and the pre-33 market is 100% going to get fucked when the boomers die. I complain about the risk of AGE premiums disappearing, but if you're still holding pre-33 gold in 20 years, you're gonna have to wait another 200 to get that numismatic value back, and it's a lot bigger markup. 20 francs and sovs are where it's at for fractional.

Changing the metal content of a debased coin without changing its design is a pure Shylock move and I don't want to deal with date inspection on what should be zero-thought currency. I have a lot of free time now and the skills to build a pantograph machine, now most standard pantograph machines only do 2D, that is to say a single depth of etch. so you can't get nice 3D images like on modern coins.
Correct me if I'm wrong but a pantograph for coins gets around this by removing one axis and replacing it with the Y axis. (vertical height of etch) and setting one axis to constant movement. basically you get left and right and up and down but not back and forward, which is remedied by making the coin round, so you rotate the master model of the coin, and move your machine across the surface of it, tracing left and right position and height, this gives you full 3D tracing of your model on to a tiny die.
I have NEVER seen one of these for sale.
but I could make one.
I have a precursory understanding of how this works and can foresee some potential problems. it would be so much fucking time and investment that I would want a kickstarter or something.
but once built I could etch dies to make hundreds of ANYTHING you want. The wilder the better. and i could even sell you the dies so you can just get a press and make your own coins.

Imagine trying to pin the gold thing on Nixon when he was surrounded by pic relateds the entire time. Same with Franklin roosevelts "brain trust" a bunch of cronie [bad guys]. The idea to move away from the gold standard, naturally came to the very first people responsible for handling valuable resources in any decent amounts, considering that they were just mere weak, fragile, stupid, easily corruptable, emotional human beings, like all of us are. I'd say the idea itself is probably as old as homo sapiens and very close related species (neanderthals i.e.).
The common implementation in the western world, as usual, took root in the Western Europe. Specifically financial centers like The British Empire, Dutch East Indian Trading Company, that sort of thing. Little by little, here are there, measures or "innovations" were implemented that have eaten away at the gold standard over centuries. Because everybody wants to spend more, than there is gold in the human world. Sometimes, during war, kings n shit like that, must spend more than they have or lose. So guess what happened. As of now we have letters, where faggots have openly written each other about the ways they'll cheat the gold system. Honestly it would sound like that, but nobody ever spoke these words: "Folks, we either die or move off gold. You will suffer, being the unwashed masses you are, and I won't. But, there is no other way, since I'm too greedy, stupid, and don't think about anybody or anything else. Have fun."
We are experiencing it again btw, without the gold standard now. Because "cheating the system" is so rampant and overbearing, that the entire fucking global economy crumbles right nao. Albeit slowly at this moment. But it can crash completely in no time, and I don't see any of the governments stopping to add non-existent numbers in the computers. Non-existent, because there is nothing to back it up.

TL;DR: Just don't tell anybody, that we made more vouchers, than there is gold. Ez as that. Going off the gold standard with bullshit excuses, after you factually have more paper and "debt", and "present" it to the population, is a mere formality.

>please tell me how I'm not profiting much
do people have to answer this bullshit rhetoric, really? Ok, so here is the first rule for all of /biz/ ever. Until you've closed the deal and made tanglible (you can spend it/reinvest right nao) profit, you have nothing to show. It's all speculation, dreams, and other irrelevant stuff. You will profit off your gold at a point in time, at minimum, when you sell it for a good price, that will be more, than you have paid in total over the years, incl. delivery, storage, and polishing fees, plus the both adjusted inflations. Both of let's say, fiat currency, and then goldflation, if any.
Both are goods. So far you've just exchanged good id: money for good id: gold. Now you have to exchange good id: gold in order for a profit to be made.

TL;DR: You just bought, you did not sell or acquire anything for the good. It's like a shop filling the warehouse to the brim and then bragging, that they've made profit already, when they still have to sell to make actual profit.

>so your contention is that gold is gonna dump back to $1600 any day now?
No. You've missed the point. Which is, depending of the moment in time, $2500 might be just valuable as $1600 were 10 or 15 years ago. We're not exactly at that point in time. But you must count inflation into profits. Let me try another example, gold is just being held by stackers longer than 1-2 years or a decade even:
It makes no sense to invest fiat into some mystery papers or just let the bank hold it, whenever the annual returns do not exceed the annual inflation. Because you're factually losing money/value in that case.
>face it bud, these gold gains are permanent.
well, we don't know that. This is not how the economy and goldflation work. Science too. All I know is that nothing in this universe is permanent. Not even gold itself.
>gold is money
no, gold is a good. and money itself, fiat i.e., is also a good. These are all goods in the economic system. That's economy 001, not even 101.
>this isn't some bogus crypto or tech stock that is destined to dump back to 0
Agreed. Gold is one of the best goods to STORE and HOLD some value in, as of this very moment. It's been like this since time immemorial and there is no telling when it will end.
But, you seem to be a little confused, or like conflating, the factual, tanglible, IRL value of a good (gold is useful and almost indestructible, almost), the temporary market value of a good (that is susceptible to manipulation), and the general economic circumstances.

TL;DR: Making your basicly absolutist statement, is only possible, whenever you and the world are absolutely sure, that it won't change under any circumstances. Which is not realistic. Because of goldflation itself, even.

yes, ofc. nothing is stated otherwise. We're not talking about the ability to trade a good in. We're talking about making massive ass profits of trading the goods.
I'll repeat myself: gold is great to store value in under the current system.
>i can go to a normal person and be like "here's some gold/silver i will trade it for whatever".
I doubt it. Normies wouldn't know what to do in this situation, because they won't know what to do with the gold. An exclusive club into metals for whatever reason, would know. But none of them will ever accept it without a thorough verification first. So I'm just supposed to believe you and your word, that all of the gold is real? >is this projection?
no. anything traded in a market is a good. fiat currency is a good too.
>gold is fully fungible
right. goods have specific properties to them. i.e. gold is (considered to be) fungible. However, fungible doesn't mean liquid.
>bitcoin on the other hand is not.
I have no idea about bitcoin, I've never looked into the properties of bitcoin as a good. As of this moment, I hold 0 value associated with blockchain. To me, if you're interested, Bitcoin is way too volatile and bitcoins value is still too susceptible to manipulation. Disregarding the fact, that just like any currency (currencies = goods) one can organize a temporary pyramid scheme around its value. Which we have witnessed.
There are people in this world, you know, who have made very good money (a lot of fucking goods) on/during events like recent (relative) hyper inflation in Argentina, Venezuela, Turkey, and so on.

TL;DR: What is you actual point? That you can trade gold in at anytime to the people interested in it? Was never disputed. Question was and is, how much profit will you make off it? Just keep your gold, because it will hold value for the foreseeable future, since it's damn too practically useful.

That's is a good one to show to the bad guys claiming "they'll just inflate the supply by mining more" as they ignore the fact that metal price inflation takes a handful of centuries to occur, whereas digital currencies inflate within a few years and paper currencies inflate within a generation. Sound money is simply more stable than its imposter. Even if mass mined, the inflation taking place is minimal with metals. Gold and silver are the real money, always have been.

I don't like this post because it's dishonest, a day labourer makes £18,000 a year? In 2024? Compounding on this guys point, your first example from 1900 of a 'day labours' wage is absolutely not going to be based off illegal immigrants being paid below the legally mandated minimum, so to use "illegal immigrants being paid below minimum wage to pick fruit" as your 2024 example to prove inflation hasn't happened makes it even more shakey.

LOL
And over 200 years its under a 2% inflation rate with gold, however if you held fiat notes over even a fraction of that timespan you'd have quite literally nothing. Something that the original memetic should have pointed out. Even with the spanish "flood" of precious metals, it still barely dented savings. Unironically the fed has a target of 2% inflation yet they have repeatedly abused our currency and have failed to meet these obligations as well as failing to have a precious metals reserve.

It depends on where you live. In the US on the east and west coast it's pretty easy to find a local store that will buy bullion at or near spot price.

You have to call around to a few that come up near you on google and ask. There's a lot of faggot Jewelry stores that claim they buy gold but are a hassle to deal with, the kind of place where "you can only sell coins and bars to the owner whos here every tuesday and wendesday and you have to make an appointment".

But chances are there's a good LCS near you if you look. They're basically pawn stores but specialize in collectible coins, rare historic currency and some jewelry. Those are usually the kind of places you want to be, they'll make a cut off you but it's usually 3% over spot when buying or 3-5% below spot when selling, depending on whether it's all generic bullion or what.

A colleague at my 9-5 (who through work ethic and knowledge I consider a peer though that consideration wouldn't be returned for sure), and through recent research their now ex-significant other (who definitely doesn't know me). I first noticed it through very similar type of writing and thought it was a coincidence or that I was just smoking too much weed. The upside of this odyssey is that I stopped smoking weed and through seeing their instagram just last Friday, I have motivation to work out more than ever before.
After noticing the writing patterns months ago, there were specific things said that I could either write off as a series of coincidences, or confirmation that the person I'm thinking of at least has posted here in the past or may be posting now even. I deliberately started using a tell to out myself and see if it might lead somewhere. Recently in their eyes I may have burnt a bridge, not on purpose at all. I approached a situation very poorly with not much planning and very little thought. Which is unlike me, but for some reason I had felt a sense of haste in needing to try and initiate a particular conversation regarding a personal question.
They're not interested I get that. But at least I tried, although poorly. The thing that intrigues me the most about this person is their sophisticated vocabulary. Other things not too, buy even before that knowledge I knew they were a cut above the rest.

Pirates and Gentleman, Happy Labor Day!
Hope you had a great weekend with some favorable weather
Final production numbers for the 2024 Pirate round are
>Gilded - 231
>Regular - 235
Reminder all rounds will now include a serial number, with the Regular #'s beginning in sequence after the gold plated. I have not been given an ETA yet but will get them turned around as soon as they arrive

>2024 Apurand is now available for presale!
Goal is to get these fulfilled by November. Would love to try our hand at a Christmas round if anybody has design suggestions

>2023 Anime Prospectors remain on sale at $45
>new batch with revised design will be minted once these are sold out

Thanks again everyone for your support over the years. Hard to believe we've already marched across the 3 year line
