ZK proofs are an optional feature of succinct proofs, typically succinct non interactive arguments of knowledge (SNARK more or less, my acronym might be off ). Essentially you can prove something is true with less computation than was used to create answer and that’s how it creates scaling for blockchains. Zksync doesn’t actually use any zero knowledge afaik just succinctness properties, at least for now, so the zk terminology is more marketing than technical detail but if you have a succinct argument then it generally should be possible to also make that argument zero knowledge and thus get the privacy.
