I am actively working on something bigger than myself but it's not easy. I believe in myself, though. That's the first thing you need. If you don't believe in yourself then no one will because no one wants to believe in someone who is not confident of the story they are presenting to the world (story could be an idea, a product, etc.)

I have worked on 3 SaaS projects all of which were high quality and competitive, especially the last one, but I realized it's all about networks and nepotism. I have not yet given up on the last one (local job board in small country) and I understand I need to work on my marketing skills, but it's so fucking brutal. My first project was an OpenAI wrapper that bulk analyzed resumes and there was nothing as good at that time but no one gave a shit about it cause it's something new and not "reputable", and you know when you message companies it's usually read by HR retard holes.

i am going to sell goods on e-bay which is not big but it will let me practice copywriting and other business skills and hopefully translate to a larger enterprise, and I get to get rid of a bunch of useless crap hanging around in boxes in the basement so it seems like a worthwhile endeavor to at least give a shot

The way I see it the only things worthwhile after you've made it are creative pursuits. Any "business" simply has the goal of making money when you get down to it. And you've already made all the money you'll need because you'd made it. I think plenty of people here would inevitably follow creative pursuits or simply ensure that spaces exist for weirdos like us to communicate and create. People just don't mention that stuff specifically because they don't have a "dream" to be an artist or something, creativity is just something humans naturally fall into. Without work and with plenty of resources, you'd find yourself there in some capacity.
