Regardless of what you think of tipping, HOW can it be that tipping is a % of the price?

Wagie Waiter open wine bottle 1 that cost 20

Wagie waiter open wine bottle 2 that cost 100

It's the EXACT same amount of work. Why does this wagie waiter deserve 5x more tip for the same amount of work?

In all honesty grocery store cashiers deserve tips more than most waiters and baristas. Cashiers have to facilitate hundreds to thousands of dollars in grocery product an hour, that deserves a 1-10$ tip more than some dude bringing your food or filling your drink

>Why does this wagie waiter deserve 5x
it matters because you dont want that nigga spilling it on you. no place that sells 100$ bottles of wine will be selling 20$ bottles of wine anyway. I have been to mid tier restaurants where they serve 20$ bottles of wine and ive been to some of the most expensive steak houses in Los Angeles that the cheapest bottle is around 75$. The Quality of service is not even in the same league. Top tier restaurants the waiters are taking home 300-400 in tips on an average night. these people are making 75k a year in tips. Ive known couples where the husband works as a mid tier position in tech or finance and the wife is college educated but works at the nicest steakhouse in LA and makes $80k+ a year.

When you are making that kind of money, you better give the best possible service imaginable. some stacey at Olive Garden wouldnt cut it.

because if they bring you a plate of lobster it's harder than a plate of pasta, so they deserve more.

it was just an example

but there are places selling 100 and 200

why do the 200 opening require more skill than 100 opening?
