Some guy in IRC had come up with an ingenious plan to liquidate some of his Bitcoins: Dwolla (failed paypal wannabe startup) had a promotion where if you signed up and tweeted your eternal love for the company, they'd put $5 in your dwolla wallet.
The IRC guy was telling folks to sign up, get the free five dollars, send them to him, and he'd send you some Bitcoins for it. I did, and he sent me around 17 Bitcoins.
And this, kids, is how I got my first bitcoins.

$600 in 2014. I bought 5 on my first order. Added more later

It was around $250 in 2015 just happened to time the bottom. I needed it to buy drugs from darknet and then the price went up a lot so became obsessed

>> No.58460313

I bought in 2018. Never sold.

I'm sure if I would have bought pretty early, I would have sold and waste the money in some stupid trip to Japan or something.

>> No.58460331

It was in 2010 but it was for buying something and I didn't care to understand it fully so I lost access to my wallet. Only have about $150 worth and it took several weeks to update the bitcoin blockchain on some primitive desktop wallet software. You had to wire money directly from your bank to a bitcoin seller. I don't remember them having exchanges back then.
Its a shame I lost that but I'm doing well now anyway.

around $600 in 2014. I was trying to buy some from 2010 or 2011 though, couldn't find a way to do it. Even today buying from where I live is complicated, global currency my ass, it never was.
