Just buy rubles through forex. If you can somehow get 17% interest on those rubles you bought you're probably looking at a 30-40% gain in 1-2 years.

Maybe wait for more of a bottom too

The whole point of sanctions was to prevent the flow of the economy. So there really isn't anything to be made, and if there is, it's probably illegal if you live in a NATO country. Not to mention that you probably won't make shit out of it. No one in their right mind would go drill in Russia right now. They could very easily be setting market floors through taxation and would cause you to lose a bunch of money. When this blows over, and it takes a while for things to blow over, you will be lucky to have recouped your losses.

Jesus Christ, the anti Putin propaganda has worked really well on your chicken brain.

Of course you can invest and now is the time. Russian stocks are beat down so much it's almost unbelievable. There are great companies to be had with positive cashflow zero debt loads of cash and a full order book that are trading for 3 times earnings!

I'm not too knowledgeable on just what exactly people are allowed to do, but I am willing to bet that you'd be breaking a law by doing that. Most of the Russia companies are also state-owned and I don't know much about Russia but I believe a few are in fact traded on the Russian market.

There are people that honestly believe it is illegal to buy Russian stocks. Absolutely amazing.

Given the fact that you aren't allowed to do business with Russian companies that annexed Crimea, I think it's quite a rational belief.

it's not illegal but there's not a single russian stock or etf on the TSX. I think there's only one etf on NYSEarca too. They don't want you investing their because of "gangster capitalism"

5yr default probability drops to 30.6% as Ruble seems to stabilize around 67-68 per Dollar.
In my opinion Russia wont default so easy: it doesnt have an external debt so its easier for them to play with policies for sure it might take time....
