Whether or not alties panic sell their coins or not like they did during Nov/Dec will remain to be seen. Lot of new money now that hasn't experienced getting justed by BTC, they won't know what to do and will probably have the weakest hands when they see their shiny new alts dipping.

Depends entirely on the coin. You can buy any non-erc20 coin with btc. You can buy erc20 and <50% of alts with eth. You can buy like 30% of alts with ltc, and that's bring generous. Yeah, transaction times and fees are better with non-btc gateways, but your options are way more limited.
